Would you consider these "defects"?

I am a proud new owner of a razr maxx just to start off. I have had it for 2 weeks now and love it but have found some, IMHO, serious issues and would like to see others opinions. 1. The top left and right corner of the screen where the gray meets the black strip, the corners are very easy to slip a fingernail into and move almost like they were not glued all the way in place. I did not try to pry it but from just feeling my fingernail in there it seemed liked the smallest of effort could rip the whole part off. Now the opening is very thin and does not wobble but is still a little worrisome not to mention I would think it would negate the splash resistance if water got near this area. 2. The volume rocker creaks if I slide my finger over it like and old floor board, really moto??. 3. The area under the camera flash where there is a tiny notch which I am assuming is a noise mic, that area is slightly raised also allowing easy access for a fingernail to reach in and it peels back almost effortlessly. I barely tugged and it pulled back more than an inch and I stopped thinking it was going to come completely off (also assuming that negates splash resistance) 4. The screen in dark environments looks like a child went to town with a sharpie and destroyed the screen. Now I use my phone at night almost as much as during the day (college student schedule) and these dots affect netflix and video viewing of all types, most of my games and any screen that is slightly dark looks terrible in low light (not pitch black or lights off just dim). I went to the store to return it and they counted the day I bought it in the 14 days which is total BS to me because I did not have the phone activated until about 5 pm so to count that as a whole day and tell me it cant be traded in or returned really pisses me off. Should I get a warranty replacement? I mean it sickens me to have to consider a replacement in less than a month. Has anyone else noticed these "issues" or have any advice?

No, I have not but I apparently have not looked mine over with such a fine tooth comb as I have no idea of what parts you're talking about and mine could be missing for all I know. My phone works great and until something goes wrong I'm going to keep it and be happy.

Have you looked at another phone (display in the store)? Is yours really defective or are you just being picky? If it is defective then use your warranty and get a new one.

Well the black spots are honestly terrible. I had someone make fun of my fun for being "ghetto" because it looks so bad in the evenings so that is not me being picky. The other parts I only noticed because they are raised out so I wasn't looking over the phone when I saw them it was just pretty obvious. Also the volume rocker squeaks a lot so that was something anyone would notice from second one of just touching the phone. The top two corners I could live without. I am talking about under the flash for the camera is a strip separating the Kevlar from the camera bar. It is very obvious that there is a second mic there and I noticed that the middle was pushed out which looked weird so I pushed on it and it went back into place and when I let go it raised again so these are slightly picky things but not something it would take long for anyone to notice and when I kept adding these things to the list that when I decided to return it but was shot down.

The darker spots on a dark background phenomenon is seen on many devices, and is not really a defect--it's just a quality of these screens. Not sure if it has to do with the type of screen, but it definitely is more noticeable when the screen is dimmed and you're looking at it in a dark room. It shouldn't be noticeable if your screen brightness if up and you're in normal lighting. I've seen this on all of my Android devices--Droid Incredible, Xperia Play, Acer A100 and A500.

By the way, why don't you go back to the person who made fun of your screen and ask him how often he needs to charge his phone. Then tell him you can go at least a couple of days without doing it. Tell him how ghetto he looks carrying around a charger, an extra battery pack, or a giant-humped extended battery.

Well it does sound like you need to return it and get another one or possible a different model.. im very picky and have noticed a very small gap around the bezel but im not going to intentionally pry apart my phone good luck

I think it's great that someone has to go to these extremes just to find things wrong with this phone:-) Bravo. It further supports what we already know. That this phone is still a winner. I can see some splotches during the black screen but only on one side & doesn't bother me a bit. It's a condition found in other amoled phones too so it's a very minor thing in comparison to the very real deficiencies of many other devices. Since I have a nice shell on mine I won't be prying around on any gaps anytime soon either. I'm a tech so when and if I need to replace the battery, guess I'll worry bout it then.

You are definitely right. I am coming from the nexus which is plagued with issues mainly the battery and the signal drove me away. I ordered a tpu case from amazon and I will quickly forget the outer issues when I can't see them lol. Also the battery on this thing is crazy! I didn't get this with any of the extended battery packs I have had in the past that were freaking huge.

It sounds to me like what you're peeling off with your fingernail is the protective cover on the screen and back. You can remove those after you buy the phone. It's just a plastic protector to protect the phone during shipment and such.

I'm reasonably sure that the black strip with the fingernail notch is a cover to access the back of case screw. Somewhere on the net is a vid of how to take the Razr/Razr Maxx apart, and that is where they began.
