would you root the edge?

I don't see any reason to root right now. My s7e does what I want w/out root.

I've gone back and forth but have never rooted any Android device. I used to Jailbreak my iPhones but there really isn't much I feel like I want to do but can't with a stock Android. The iPhone is so locked down that I feel like you have to JB it to make it worth using.

Is that Santigold in your avatar? I dig her.

Yeahp. She's one of my favorites.

I agree with most here, I will not be rooting my S7E. That's a first for me in a long time. Coming off a Nexus 6P, which is basically made to be rooted. But the phones just don't need rooting these days like they have in the past. I use the "Block This!" app for blocking ads, which was always my number one reason to root. It works great. I do miss a few of the things that rooting can bring, like double tapping the face of the phone to wake it up, being able to do things like long pressing the power button to turn on the flashlight, etc. But I can live w/o those to stay stock and not have the hassle of un-rooting for updates.

I do miss being able to use Titanium Backup, though.

I used to be heavy into rooting and custom ROM's and all that. Now, I only root to remove the Bloatware and have the capabilities of doing a backup/restore of apps/data that you can't get without Root. Otherwise, no real reason anymore unless you have an older phone that you want a more current OS on which may not be supported anymore.
