After purchasing the Elite I am having major purchasing regrets. The elite has major out of the box software issues. Not bugs mind you. Just the pure bullsh*t vm added to the phone that they always seem to think we will want. GARBAGE. Basically. I am seriously thinking of having vm swap me back to my V and passing the new elite on to a family member. Not a downgrade in my opinion. More of an upgrade the way I see it at the moment lol. Never thought I'd think of a downgrade that way. But unless the elite sees more action. Im swapping back.

just to clarify, the device itself would be an awesome device to use if not for the absolute overload of bloat added by vm. it makes using the device an undesirable experience. i guess im spoiled by the v and what all i can do and how completely free of crap i can make it versus the elite. these companies seem to add this crap with no thought of whether or not you might actually want it or not. with no option to even remove the garbage. that is what gets me. no true option for you to say hey i dont want your stinking ID setup, nor do I want or need your wallet google. shove it! lol. unreal. stop selling me on your weak apps and other **** ill never EVER uSe!!! O_o blah!!

Is there no way to root it yet?

Sounds bad. Makes me afraid to leave the OV for anything other than a top of the line device that's guaranteed development. Maybe you should try the One V, my friend just got it so I'm gonna check his out... I get the feeling with sense 4 and ICS that it will be an awesome device even without roms.

@cole, There's a way to root it but its semi dangerous and there's no rom development.

yeah shes rootable. but to be honest. im just not caring to at the moment.

I was just thinking if you could root it, you could grab Titanium Backup and remove some of the bloat. Maybe it's time to take up development? :p

Take all of Coles advice and I'm sure the elite will be a much more pleasant phone. Think about it this way: how does your unrooted elite compare to your (once) unrooted optimus v?

That's why I upgraded to the S2 Epic 4G Touch. While I loved my OV, now I would never go back to it. That's a true upgrade. Even though I pay more per month, I'm fine with it.

I got to play with an Elite a little bit on Wednesday. My dad bought it on an impulse and I got to set it up for him (and teach him how to use it).

It sure is a snappy little phone! Seems to perform quite well and yes there is a lot of bloat on there to remove... but then again there was a lot on my V too before I learned the art of rooting/romming.

Hang tight. The Elite is a new phone. I'm sure there are already several people (if not dozens) working on cracking this sucker open. I don't know if it's been done yet or not as I haven't been reading too much about it but I'm sure it'll happen.

EDIT: I found this procedurehttp://www.androidpolice.com/2012/06/12/exclusive-how-to-root-the-virgin-mobile-lg-optimus-elite/ for rooting the Elite.
