Picked up a white moto x today and honestly I couldn't be happier!!! Had my heart set on the note 3 today and then I was messing with the moto x. This thing is so smooth compared to my S4. (Samsung take notes). Can anyone inform me more on the active notifications more tho? Thanks all

Basically active notifications are the evolution of the little blinking led. Using it's contextual computing core it will light up only the pixels needed (this is why they went with an AMOLED display over LCD) whenever you flip it over or pull it out of a pocket to give show you what notifications you have. If you have the phone sitting face up the active display will "breathe". The one terrible issue I had with active notifications is that none of my other phones have it!

Isn't this the truth? Granted, I can use Active Notifications from the Play Store on my S4 to get similar results, but it doesn't work nearly as well as the built-in notifications on my Moto X. And having to push the home button on my iPhone 5 to see if I've missed anything makes it feel like a complete dinosaur.

Motorola and Google hit it out of the park with this little phone. It's an absolute joy to use and now that I've gotten the update that improves the camera (AT&T), it really is a top of the line device. It really makes me excited to see where this Moto/Google relationship goes from here because IMO, they've gotten off to a smashing start.

I do this as well. Motorola Connect is such an underrated feature of the new Motorola.

And it's snappy and speedy without needing the highest available specs.

This makes 3 of us. Can we keep this "wanted Note 3, ended up with X" train goin'?! And welcome to the Moto X forums maryjane. Mi casa es su casa, and all that jazz and whatnot!

Completely agree with that statement :)
Glad you like your new phone too.

Also is it just me from stalking other phone forums here .
From what I see/read the Actual Owners of the Moto X have less complaints(or no complaints ;)) of their new phone then the other new phone forums .

There is a setting screen where you can choose which programs will use the active notifications, I like to know when there are updates to some in the shade, but not be bothered by them on the active screen.
Also, I have to agree this phone is excellent, from the software to the very usable design. I have read a few things about how the design is average and how the moto x doesn't stand out, but I think these must be people who've become used to bad design. A curved design is much smarter for a device you stow in your pocket, unless of course you are a flat person with squared edges. Apple got this right with the first iPhone, and then started designing museum pieces.
The single feature of active notifications is the anti blackberry. I feel in charge of the device, not a slave to it.
I am also impressed with the sound, the speaker is very good for calls, works well and feels like a duplex system, not sure if it is or not.

When I upgraded from my Galaxy Nexus yesterday, I was between the S4, the G2 and the HTC One. But the Moto X got me as soon as I started playing around with it. The active listening and notifications really make the experience. This phone is damn near perfect. I picked up the white one yesterday and if Motorola's next offering is anything like this one, it looks like I'll be back for good. The OG Droid was my first smartphone followed by the Droid X.

I've got a white one on Verizon and I've been scouring Google for clues to when that update will hit for me.

Its all about software optimization. I'm glad to finally have an Android phone that took a hint from the iPhone. It's not necessarily about sheer horsepower. I'm absolutely loving my Moto X

You cannot take calls using Motorola connect on your laptop, you only get incoming call notifcations, you can chose to ignore thats it .
.But you can connect X to your laptop's bluetooth and take the call using your laptops mic and speakers/headset after answering the call on X.
