I decided to leave Verizon after 10 years and go to AT&T to get a Windows Phone 7 device. I ended up getting the Samsung Focus and loved it. It was small, fast and way better than my BlackBerry Tour that it replaced. The only down side was AT&T seemed to have spotty coverage in my area. It didn't bother me at first, until I started missing important phone calls because the phone never rang. Well when I was visiting the folks for Christmas, I had no signal in their entire town. My Verizon based family all had 5 bars. I went to the AT&T store a few later and asked about the signal issues and they blamed it on the LTE upgrade and signal comes and goes daily.
So anyway... long story short I walked into Verizon looking to switch back. I didn't want to get the only Windows Phone 7 phone, the HTC Trophy, because it's been out a while. I decided to grudgingly get an Android phone. I ended up doing the Galaxy Nexus because it was new and did LTE. I was a little sick to my stomach leaving WP7. Android didn't have Zune, Xbox Live or Metro. I thought I was going to hate it. Plus I've always heard Android is a slow buggy mess.
It took me a few days, but I warmed up to Android. There's an app for EVERYTHING! Notifications are awesome and they come instantly. I can have a near realtime conversation with people on Twitter. I also think the app quality of my frequently used apps is better. I also discovered you can do video editing on the phone, complete with transitions. I jumped to Spotify as a Zune replacement and it does what I need it to do. It's a little more social since I'm sharing music with all my Facebook friends, rather than a small group of Zune users.
Will I go back to WP7? Who knows. If Verizon has a decent Windows Phone 7 LTE phone and WP7 updates their notification system I may, but right now I'm loving Android.
