wrapped phone does not work with wireless charger

I just got my free wireless charger. I have a thin Spigen clear case on it as well as carbon wrap from Slickwraps. When I put it on my wireless charger it will charge for 20-30 seconds then my phone will stop charging. If I have the screen on it will give me message saying "wireless charging has been paused". When the wireless charging stops, the charger will go from solid blue lights to flashing blue lights as if it senses the phone is still on it.

I tried my coworker's phone who also has a Spigen case but a different one. His phone works flawlessly on the same wireless charger.

Could it be that the wrap on the phone is interfering with the charging. I find it hard to believe. Does anyone have experience with wraps on wireless chargers.

Panda,

There are multiple threads on this problem, some people having issues similar to yours, others do not. Some have tried changing the cable to a heavier cable, other chargers seem to prefer specific orientations.

I am using the Samsung fast wireless charger with the Otterbox Defender case, which is one of the thicker cases out there, and have no issues so far.

Others are having problems with Wrapped phones or chargers in general?

I believe my issue is directly related to my SlickWrapped phone.

I waiting for the skinomi clear wrap to come in tomorrow will test.

I've had the same problem and I believe its with the free wireless charger Samsung gives out. I have a thin case on it and it works just fine with the other wireless chargers that I have. The free one is the only one where this happens. It doesn't happen all the time but it does enough for me not to trust using the charger if I'm not going to be looking at it to see if and when it fails.

Thanks all. .

Just want to emphasize that the same wireless charger works perfectly with my coworkers Note 5

Yeah I can see that happening too. Mine worked fine for a day or two before it started acting up. I'd wager if your coworker used it consistently for a couple of days it would start acting up on his too. But hey I could be wrong, do you have any other wireless chargers to try yours out on?

I have the skinomi clear wrap and a Liquid crystal clear case. No problems with charging nor using S-pay.

We were switching or phones on and off the same charger back to back and his phone worked every time and my phone never worked properly. The only difference between or phones was that mine is wrapped and his is not.

I then went to Starbucks because they have wireless chargers built into the tables. My phone charged properly on those chargers.

I'm guessing that the wrap is causing some sort of interference with the charger so the charger has to work harder to deliver power to my phone. Then the extra current overloads the charger and shuts it off.

Well maybe the wrap is giving you the trouble, I don't know. All I know is I have the same symptoms with the Samsung charger and I don't have a wrap but my phone works consistently on other wireless chargers. I take it you don't have a different charger to test it on.

I tested on the PowerMats Starbucks have in their tables and it works fine

Yeah then I still think its your charger, what's funny to me is that while early this morning my charger was acting up ever since I first responded to this thread its been working fine. It's like it knows I'm talking bad about it. Good luck with yours.

I've had two Samsung wireless chargers, both are crap. They charge for a few minutes then the blue light just blinks. Nothing on the back of my phone. Maybe the wrap is playing a part, but more likely the chargers are garbage

I thought I read somewhere that the Starbucks chargers were not qi chargers. If you go to Best Buy, the Samsung rep should have a qi charger on the desk that you can try out. I suspect that you could be right about the wrap interfering. Maybe it is made of some kind of foil or mylar?

I work for Best Buy and I have a note 5 with a Speck Case and a Spigen Clear case. When I place my phone on the wireless charger whether at work or at home (the free one from samsung) it does not charge right away. I have move it around until it finally connects. And then if it does start to charge, it stops at like 90% for some reason and the charger blinks blue. Then I have to re-seat the phone again.

Found the free source! yay...one will be sent!

I posted the below in another thread, but may help someone here who is having trouble finding the "sweet spot" for placing their covered phone on the wireless charger.....

I have a Pelican protection cover on my Note 5. I use the Samsung wireless charger ($50 at ATT).

I have to place my phone "landscape" with the "charger cord" coming out the top of the wireless (can you picture that?)

More detail: imagine the charger is a clock and the cord is at 12:00. I have to place my phone landscape (home button on right side).

I have to set the phone down with a slight "thud" down on the charger...centered...and allowing me to see the "solid blue". If I don't do the slight "thud" then only the blue light goes on, but no charging takes place. The "thud" seems to alert the charger or phone in someway because immediately the phone will indicate that charging has started.

The "thud" is simply dropping the phone onto the charger from about an inch above the charger...I know, weird, but it works.

Hope this helps.
