Wrong recipient SMS bug STILL happens!

Friends,

A text message comes in to me this morning from a friend of mine. I open it in Handcent and happen to notice that the top message bar shows the word "Twitter" in it (I have the Twitter "40404" number in my address book). I close the message and reopen it - my friends name correctly appears on that upper bar.

Hmm, that's kinda odd.

I reply to the message. It appears in the SMS thread of the conversation we were having in Handcent.

About twenty minutes later I see my text message on Twitter. The Bolt actually DID send the message to Twitter at "40404", where it posted as a tweet from me. Even though it appears in my message thread with my friend, she did NOT get the SMS.

Not good. Anybody else seen something similar on a post-Gingerbread OTA Thunderbolt?

Last couple of days my touch screen stops responding and my phone reboots. Happened twice in an hour yesterday.

I've been saying it for months but no one seems to care. Check my posts and read about my experiences.

Not had an issue since gingerbread myself. Avoid handcent maybe?

Maybe it is sense 2.1??? Haven't been Im sense 2.1 for months either.

I was having the text message problem post gingerbread too. I never went to Handcent, I did use What'sApp, and Kik without any issues though. About a month ago now, I rooted and went to BAMF Forever, and haven't seen the problem since, not sure if it is a Sense 2.1, since I am running 3.0 now, but that was the only thing that fixed mine.

Isn't it possible the problem lies within Handcent rather than the native messaging app? I'm certainly not defending what may be a major bug but I seem to recall that happening to me once or twice before I updated. I don't think I was using Handcent when I sent the message but it was installed on my device. Ever since I deleted Handcent I've never been able to duplicate the problem but that doesn't prove anything. Just sharing my experience.

I can't duplicate it no matter what I do. I'm inclined to not believe Handcent was to blame. Can't be sure, but gut says no. This is (I believe) only the second time this type of thing has EVER happened on the Bolt for me (I did have it happen a number of times on my Eris though), but I found it more worrisome that it was after the update that supposedly fixed the issue.
