X+1 considered a successor?

Everything I've read is calling the X+1 a successor to the X, not to the Droid Maxx. Is this because it won't have the our massive battery? Or maybe the form-factor? Or is the Maxx really that different than the X?

Maxx is internally the same as X, but it's got a larger screen and battery of course.

I'd wager there's a Verizon exclusive successor to the Maxx in the works, and I'm willing to wait a while for it to show up.

I agree the droid line is big for Verizon so I would think something is in the works.

Either way, I'm spoiled and now cannot live without always listening touchless control, active notification, and a large battery on all my future phones.

I too would expect a MAXX successor/update, vs the X+1 being the successor, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if they upped the +1's battery some to widen its appeal.
