Why when I check for updates on my X does it not show up? I believe I'm running the leaked version of GB before it officially came out but that shouldn't really matter I don't think....

If u r on the leaked version u will not be able to download the update. In order to receive this update, u would need to sbf to froyo and accept the OTA update. But I recommend staying on the leaked gb build if it is working fine for u. I have heard that there are still a few bugs in the new update. :-)

The only software that does not have bugs is the software that is never released. "Have heard there are bugs" is, IMO, insufficient reason to skip an upgrade. What bugs have you heard of, and how prevalent are these alleged bugs, remembering that those who have problems are usually the only ones to post about them... most people with no issues don't post "No problems here".

The only noticeable issue I had with the original GB release for the X that wasn't resolved with a reboot and cache clearing is the hard button lights. I updated to the current release (which actually does not bump the OS version at all, only the device firmware) and there was absolutely no difference to anything that I can tell, beyond the firmware build number being bumped. No new bugs and no new fixes visible here.

So my phone installed the gb update (602) on its own n I keep delaying it... if I do the update will I lose all my stuff on my phone? Like apps n numbers? Will I have to save everything and reinstall it all?

You won't lose anything by installing the update and you won't have to reinstall or setup anything. Are you rooted? You will lose root if you install the update.

This post links to the instructions for updating easily without losing data and settings and maintaining root.

I too had the hard button light problem, especially using the multimedia dock for a bedside clock. Every night I would have to restart the phone to get the lights to shut off after placing it in the dock. I found out through trial and error that my antilock screen app was the culprit. I stopped it from running and the hard lights go out every time. With the new(est) update, I've found if I keep the antilock app in "skip mode" I don't have to stop the app at all. Hard lights go out about 20-30 seconds after placing the phone in the dock.
I also don't have any random restarts to speak of either. I had one this morning. First one after updating. All in all, haven't had any problems at all.

I did the 'easy' update route. It seemed to keep my Root. Just as it was posted- download new superuser file, allow ota update to install.. after rebooted and message says success, do a battery pull while on , boots itself into bootstrap recovery (CWR) then instal SU file. reboot and i am still root.
At least seems to work so far.
I didn't have many problems on GB 596 the lights sure, but not much else... Will have to see how 602 holds up.

ok so my phone downloaded .602 i didnt.... it keeps telling me to install and i keep pushing later is there anyway that, that will go away after some time? its not only popping up every 12 hours

You could always boot into regular recovery mode and clear partition cache, that deletes the update for you. But it will redownload after awhile.

Is there a downloadable update I can grab Somewhere? I'm on 588 and it doesnt find a new update when I search.

I'm running stock GB so it shouldnt be a problem.

The .588 build was never officially released, so technically you are not stock. You'd have to look up the instructions for upgrading from .588 to .595 in the Rooting, ROM, and Modification sub-forum.
