X2 vs. DInc2

I'm eligible for an upgrade and my NE2 expires in a couple weeks. I had been secretly hoping that the Galaxy S2 would be available before my NE2 expired, but that's not looking promising. So I think I may need to just decide between the X2 and the DInc2

I am currently using a droid eris. Nice phone, but enough quirks to tempt me to throw it some days. Plus it doesn't have enough internal storage for me to have very many apps. I use my phone mostly for texting and apps and impromptu photos. And my calendar. I do some surfing, but there's no reason to do it on my phone when I can walk to my computer 15 feet away and have a regular keyboard and full screen. Maybe the browsing experience will be more enjoyable on a newer phone though? I have also considered the 4G phones, but I don't think I'd appreciate the speed enough to justify the higher price or the battery life irritations.

I have smallish hands, even for a woman. So I am a bit concerned that the X2 will be awkward for me to handle, especially one I put any sort of case on it. Right now, I can operate the Eris one-handed which is definitely more convenient at times (no, not driving!). But I suspect I may have to give up that habit for any of the newer phones. I have spent quite a bit of time in VZW stores playing with the phones. It's really hard to get a good sense of how they feel in your hand when they have the huge clunky tie-down attached to the back and the cord pulling. I really can't tell very well how well my hand fits around the X2 and how secure it feels one-handed.

My thoughts on the phones:
DInc2 --smaller, so may fit my hand better. Only single core, but it wins in the storage and memory department. I don't care about the front camera at all. Global could be handy if I ever left the country, but not something I do often enough to be a deal maker. I've been told mixed things about it by in-store personnel. Some have told me it's not really much of an upgrade from my Eris, but I find that hard to believe. The people in the DInc2 forum seem to love it.

X2: better screen resolution, dual core. I looked at it next to the samsung charge and the x2 screen was way brighter. I even checked the charge's setting and it was at full brightness. I'm not sure how I feel about the hardware buttons. In theory, I like the idea better. But when I play with the phone in the store, they seem stiff and hard to press with my thumb if I'm holding the phone in my hand. Upside is I won't as likely have accidental button pushes that bring up the search bar or whatever. But I LOVE the feel of the virtual keyboard on the X2. I like the solid haptic feedback. I also like the unmissable strong vibrate. I often don't feel my eris vibrating in my pocket.

So I'd love some feedback from some that have had both the DInc2 and the X2. Are there any distinguishing features that I'm missing? Is there a noticeable difference with the dual-core on the X2 compared the the DInc2? What kind of uses will make the dual-core more noticeable?

Thanks!

I'd go with the Dinc2 if you have smaller hands. My gf has one and it's an awesome phone, seems snappier than my X2. The screen on the Dinc2 is absolutely stunning as well... qHD... not so much.

I wasn't aware NE2 expired o.o

Hubby and I stopped by Best Buy tonight to pick up an online order for an xbox game and I dragged him over to the phones. Even just looking at the mockups that don't work, he thought the DInc2 would be better for me and the DX2 might be uncomfortably large in my hand. So I may be about 90% convinced for the DInc2.

Do we know if the DInc2 will be getting GB?

Also, do any retail stores match Amazon's price? The DInc2 would be $99 through VZW even with my NE2 discount (should have used it on my son's phone :-[ ). On Amazon, it's $79. Is there a compelling reason to pay $20 more to get it through VZW's website instead of Amazon?

Dinc2 just got gingerbread.

I own both a DI2 and DX2. The DX2 screen is very bright, but so is a lightbulb in front of your face. The DX2 screen is very very pixelated. At a normal viewing distance of about 1 1/2 feet you can see the pixels and jagged diagonal lines. Solid greens and reds look like a 1979 color monitor. The DX2 screen, although bright, is very very poor quality in comparison to the DI2, the DX (which I also owned), and just about any other non-pentile phone made in the last few years.

I hate the DX2 screen.

In my experience, there is no perceptible speed difference between the DI2 and DX2. If I had it do do over again, I would pick the DI2 over the DX2 without hesitation.

I recommend Amazon, better price and you have 30 days for a new replacement vs Verizon's 14 day policy. I got my dx2 from them and love it, especially the screen, the web browsing experiance is awesome. I never use my laptop now. I have no experiance with the DI2, but I would imagine its a good phone also. Good luck whatever you decide.

Can you wait to upgrade, or is your old phone unusable? There are several new phones coming out that may appeal to you. Those extra couple weeks would allow you to make an informed purchase that won't leave you with any remorse during the next 2 year contract.
