Xfer Cell service on Huawei Ascend M860

Do I need to go to MetroPCS to xfer my current cell number to a replacement Huawei Ascend m860? Or is this something I can do myself?

The charging jack no longer functions (no usb xfer or internet either) and i found the same(metro PCS Huawei ascend m860) model on line!
