The miband seems to do everything the base-level fitness trackers do (i.e., FitBit Flex), but for significantly less money. The band is small and comfortable to wear, and the band provides a variety of size options from small/medium to very large wrist sizes. I would say this would not fit those with VERY small wrists well. On the topic of the band, it does seem to hold the tracker securely, which has been a complaint about several other brands of wearables with removable bands.

The Miband tracks steps (albeit somewhat inaccurately; for instance, I was rewarded with an additional 200 steps while sitting and folding laundry), calories burned, and sleep. The sleep tracking is a nifty feature that lets you know how many hours of total sleep, deep sleep, and light sleep you get each night. I don't know how useful it is, really, but it's interesting. You can also share your data via social media, if you're one of those people who truly believes that the rest of the world cares that you walked 8,673 steps today or slept for 6 hours and 53 minutes last night. However, it does not sync with My Fitness Pal or any app other than Xiaomax's MiFit. You can, of course, manually enter your data into My Fitness Pal or others, as it does track calories burned.

Because there seems to be some misinformation out there, I want to clarify a few of the specs. What it's NOT: The MiBand does not have a heart rate monitor or a screen, hence the very low price. It also is not waterproof according to the manufacturer, which is a bit of a bummer. I read a CNET comparison of bands that promised the MiBand was one of the only models that could be worn while swimming. I did accidentally wear it in the shower once (I realized quickly and removed it), but I definitely take it off if I'm going to get my arm wet. Finally, unlike some other apps, the MiFit app does not allow you to switch or manually enter other activities or calories burned. What it DOES: The battery life is amazing. Mine says it's at 85%, and it was last charged 37 days ago. Take that, Apple Watch! The MiFit app will also allow you to customize your band and its functions. You can change the LED light colors (blue, orange, green, or red), set the location you are wearing the device, and set the vibration notification for calls and/or other phone notifications. The band also has an alarm clock function. You can set it for "early bird alarm," which will allegedly detect the best time in your sleep cycle to awaken you, up to 30 minutes before -- but not after! -- the time you set your alarm. I've been afraid to try it because I'm pretty sure it's just going to wake me up half an hour earlier every day.

All in all, for the very low price, it's hard to beat this wearable fitness tracker. I do plan to get the waterproof Misfit Shine to replace my Miband because swimming is my primary activity, and I would like a way to track that without manually entering data. If you don't need waterproof functionality, though, this fitness tracker is fantastic.
