I'll get the the speaker dock. It seems to have a USB hub in it that the standard dock lacks.

Want the leather portfolio case, although I've heard only rugged will be initially available.

Read an article somewhere that said the XOOM will accept a USB keyboard. Might go with that to begin with.

Car charger will depend on how long the battery lasts with my typically usage.

I will probably get the Portfolio Case and the speaker stand. What is intersting about the speaker stand, on this page it says "watch TV" and movies in HD. The TV reference has me curious.

Doesn't the XOOM just charge via the micro-USB port? If so, I already have a car charger that I can use for it.

Unfortunately, no. It has a separate DC charging socket. If it's 5V, a simple adapter can be made, but I fear it might be 9V. Just guessing they want to keep the charging time/currents to a minimum and might pick a higher voltage.

Drats. Thanks. I guess I would need the car charger as well too. Thanks for bringing this up, I wasn't even thinking of a need for a car charger.

Supposedly Hulu Plus and Netflix are coming to Android in the semi-near future, but who knows if they are referencing that or not. And who knows how close we are to getting support for them.

I don't think that can be true. Unfortunately there is no full size USB port on the Xoom (the kind used as host). This was the one thing that I really wish was added to it.

It also wouldn't be as simple as using some kind of micro-USB to USB adapter since the port needs to be specifically designed to be a host.

The only way it would work is if the Micro USB was a USB on-the-go implementation which would allow the same port to act as both slave and host as needed.

Yeah, it was an unpleasant surprise for me too. I'm eagerly awaiting the charger specs and hoping it's just a case of making a wiring adapter.

I'm pretty sure it charges through the micro-usb port. Where have you seen otherwise?

The portfolio case looks nice.

I agree with qnet. That case looks really great. It has a professional look and, if it's built right (a big "if"), should offer superb protection.

The only concern I would have is abrasiveness of padding as it wears. Even the softest surface can start acting like sandpaper as it accumulates dust and dirt over time.

Knowing myself, I'll be anal about it and drape a small soft lens cloth over the surface before I close the shell. Do you know the kind of cloth I'm talking about?... it's like a lint-less felt... very soft. It's meant to clean optics. You can get if filthy, toss it in the washer and it's as good and soft as new.
