Xoom Only uses 802.11a Lower Band ?

WiFi scanners WiFi Analyzer and WiFi Manager do not seem to "find" any of the A band channels above the "lower Band Set" channels 36, 40, 44 and 48. By any chance has anyone been able to connect to 802.11a channels above channel 48 on their Xoom? This would be the mid and upper band chanels.
