I already own the Xoom and I barely use it. The recent ICS update was awesome, but I still rarely use it. I can't believe the fortune I spent on it, and I can't seem to let go of it. I barely use my old black MacBook either.

What dominates in my realm of usage are my Galaxy Nexus and iMac (desktop). When it comes down to it, the most comfortable thing for me to do when I'm at home is use my iMac with a big screen, desk, and chair. When I'm on the go, it's convenient to have an all-in-one device that communicates with people...and fits in my palm and my pocket (although these devices have become larger): the Galaxy Nexus.

Enter the Nexus 7 with it's tempting aesthetics. I want to get it because it's NEW. the price is also tempting. and so are the new features in Jellybean (which will eventually come to both the Galaxy Nexus and Xoom...but who knows who long that will take).

The dilemma here is...DO I NEED IT? The answer is obviously NO. But if I get it, I don't know if I could let go of my Xoom. The Nexus 7 has a phone-style interace, while the Xoom has a tablet-like interface. I wonder if the Xoom will have the same interface when it's updated to Jellybean.

My question to all you Xoom owners is if you will get the Nexus 7 and why? Will you sell your Xoom or give it to someone or keep it? There are certain physical features that differ between the two devices such as screen size, amount of cameras, weight, etc...

Convince me to or convince me out of getting a Nexus 7 (and if I do get one should I get the 8 gb or 16 gb?). :p

My XOOM gets almost no use either, unfortunately. I have a desktop at work and at home, as well as my phone (RAZR) and a sweet ultrabook (ASUS UX31). The XOOM just doesn't have much of a place anymore...

If I look at the newer tablet I will buy it, and I won't use it, so I just need to stay away.

You sound to me like you are shopping for opinions. You have already made a decision, and you want somebody else to support your choice. I know. I've been there myself many times.

I own a XOOM, but I don't use it as much as I thought I would. I think a lot of it has to do with the weight. I don't see too well, and I have to hold it up close to my face, and my hands get tired and numb. I learned my lesson, and from now on, my first consideration in buying a tablet is size and weight. If the tablet is too heavy, everything else just feels wrong.

I also own a Samsung Galaxy 2 Tablet 10.1. I don't know all the model numbers. They all sound the same to me. I like it better than the XOOM because the sound is better, and the tablet is lighter to hold. But, it's Wi-Fi only, and when I travel, the XOOM comes in handy. I visit relatives, who are non-technical, and have terrible Internet connections, so I appreciate the 4G. So, I would not part with my XOOM, simply for the reason that it gets frequent updates and I can use it on the road.

Around the house, however, I own three Dell Windows 7 desktops (as long as we are dropping names). I prefer to sit in a chair and use the big 22" screens on these desktops. I also develop software and work at home, so it's easier for me to combine work and play on these desktops.

I have a XOOM and use it regularly. I primarily use my desktop at home, but the XOOM gets other uses in the house including - general browsing, online shopping, reading books, magazines, and news etc. Carrying a laptop around the house never appealed to me, so the XOOM fills that space quite nicely.

Will I buy a Nexus 7? Probably not. I already have a Nook Color, which is now being used by my son after I upgraded to the XOOM. Once the XOOM gets JB, I can't justify getting a lesser tablet (smaller screen, smaller storage) that does the same things the XOOM already does.

Just my 2 cents.

When/if my Xoom dies, I will consider a Nexus tablet if they are still making them. My Xoom is great for what I do on it today.

But the $199.00 price point is tempting....

My xoom gets used, not as much as id like though, my reason is the xoom us a little heavy, big for my liking, thats my reason. I bought my mother in law a kindle fire and many times I was tempted to root it, lol. Size is great.

In expectation of the Nexus 7 coming out I sold my Xoom 2 weeks ago for 275 dollars. Turned around on Wednesday I brought the Nexus & 16 GB for 249.

I use my Xoom everyday. My pc is basically a server with my media stuff on it. I usually use my mac book for work stuff. The xoom is the quick hit for internet searches, web browsing etc. When I know I don't have to do a lot of typing, I grab the xoom and jump on the web. There is no way I would grab the new tablet. I like the screen size on my tablet and I know that jelly bean is coming to it soon. What do I gain? Plus with the price that I paid for this thing there is no way I am going to let it go that easy.

I use my Xoom every day. But I could not resist getting a Google Nexus 7 tablet especially with the indicated specs. I like how light it is; lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and much lighter than the Kindle Fire. The Nexus 7 tablet may become my main device for reading in bed. I was actually hoping to get a larger screen tablet, 12 or 13", but will have to wait on that. But back to the Xoom. It is pretty cool that it will be getting Jelly Bean! The Xoom and the Nexus 7 will be around for a long time; always first to get updates. BTW, I ordered the 16 GB Nexus 7 on day 1.

I own Xoom1 tablet (wifi only) , and unlocked google nexus one phone. I am moderate user of Xoom because of its weight. Its too heavy. I tether my phone and use my Xoom on road. My dilemma was very similar to yours. I was almost ready to buy nexus7 but no rear camera and no SD are showstoppers for me. I am avid user of navigation on nexus 1. If 7 gets car dock, I will sell my Xoom Xoom ad buy n7. For you, my recommendation is to sell Xoom and buy nexus 7. Don't keep both since you already are not using Xoom much. Having this thin light weight tablet (nexus) will likely increase your use of tablet. 16 gb is good. 8 gb is too less because it has 1gb ram and the 8 is storage. Since its tablet i recommend having atleast 16 gb.In my case I am waiting for release of accessories. With its 7 in size its perfect for navigation.

I use my xoom daily... mainly for TV/movies while falling asleep, also for streaming music to my hifi... one thing I find it useless for is reading as its just too heavy and bulky.
My galaxy nexus is just to small for long (kindle) reading sessions.... so I have already ore ordered the nexus 7(16gb) not saying I will be using it for reading only, the size interests me.. and if I don't like it I'll give it to my daughter. But I have a feeling I'll be keeping mine & getting a few 8gb nexus 7's for gifts/Xmas for family etc.

Im hoping Nexus will have a 10 inch tab soon after the 7. As i like the screen size of my xoom.it treats me good and havent had the urge to refresh yet ill wait and see what tabs have to offer next year

I use my Xoom all the time, hardly touch my laptop or desktop anymore. Hopefully with Jellybean we will get full functionality out of the sd card, LOL.

From what you said in your original post, I would take a look at the galaxy note. It's designed for people who just don't want to carry a tablet anymore, but want a bigger screen than the standard phone.

I love my XOOM and it's size, but I just broke down and ordered a Nexus 7. At $250 (for the large mem) it'll be good for laying around the house... bathroom, etc...

I'm very eager to play with Jellybean.

day-one wifi Xoom here -- love it! This thing is in my hands always -- a day without my Xoom is like a day without sunshine. Not getting Nexus 7... but if (WHEN!) they make the Nexus 10 -- I will be all over that thing like a fat kid on cake!

OP: there is still a market for Xoom -- sell it off and use the proceeds for the $249 Nexus 7

I'm on the fence. I might wait until the Xoom gets 4.1, which looks like sooner rather than later. But a $200 Nexus tablet with Tegra 3? I'm probably not going to be able to hold out.

I'm going to grab one for my wife to use as a book reader/Web browser/email device.
