Does anyone know if the wifi only Xoom is exactly the same as the 3G one or if it's possible they updated the software or tweaked the hardware in some minor ways? For example, does the SD card slot work out of the gate?

I'm returning my Verizon model tonight. Great timing for the announcement since today is my 14th day with the Xoom. I'll miss it for the next 11 days but saving $200 is worth it for me. No restocking fee at Best Buy.

As noted in the post of mine that you quoted, Best Buy confirmed no restocking fee.

And activating the data service is something I would 98% most likely never do anyways.

Has anyone returned an item bought through the Motorola online store before? How much of a hassle is it?

The return policy says 14 days for tablets - is this 14 days from when you send it, or when they receive it?

This may be the second Xoom I'm returning. I bought on 2/24 at Best Buy, then returned that and bought one at the Motorola store with the $100 off coupon. I really like the Xoom, but worry that significant upgrades could happen with tablets in the next year or so that may really hurt its resale value. Am I crazy?

Not a problem. I was very surprised. In fact, I called my Best Buy and when I asked about the restocking fee, the rep actually said "Yeah, unfortunately we're not allowed to charge restocking fees anymore." ...... Unfortunately? Pffffft.

Oh i cant wait for this to come out. hopefully sams club is selling for $539 that way the money i save i can get a bluetooth keyboard and a case. also sams club has great extended warranty and return policy.

I think the VZW data connection comes in handy, I was one of those "I'm going to get it, cancel it right away and use it as wifi only" - but now I'd be hard pressed to do that. I think the $20/month is worth the extra freedom when I don't want to kill my phone's battery or radiate myself w/WiMax & Wifi on.

I am however extremely excited and happy for the Wifi Xoomers. I think this price point is good and maybe even go down when some more competition comes out.

well i just had a huge fallout with them. Ive been waiting for my portfolio case for a 2 weeks now. It was free because motorola lost my order twice. well it was supposed to be here today, and they say its out of stock. also i got my rubber case yesterday and i peeled off the original protective backing and it is discolored (see picture). I think it is defective as i have babied this like crazy.

well i told them i would like to return it and they told me no problem. they would email me some form. I then asked in how long should the money be back in my account. they said 4-6 WEEKS!!! I then basically told them to go to hell...lol.
So i called chase (card used to make payment) and told them what was going on and they said once i ship it to hold on to the tracking number so i can put in a dispute and i should have my money within 2 business days.

So ya be prepared its a pain. This is a horrible business practice by motorola. Ive never seen a company fumble things so many times. im gunna wait for the wifi version cuz i love the xoom
