Re: Exclusive to verizon????

Not the smartest of ideas on Sony's part. Hopefully they will sell directly from their website unlocked so I can use it on T-Mobile US.

I think it could be huge for Sony. They have a hard time in the US market and what better way to break back in then on the largest carrier in the US? Not to mention, there would still be able for the gsm carriers to buy it unlocked, until the exclusivity period ends.

Your logic makes no sense, if they want more exposure you don't limit yourself to one carrier. You follow Samsung's lead and deploy the same phone on every available carrier.

Verizon sells most of its current 4GLTE smartphones factory sim unlocked, so it should be usable on tmobile. It might not get all the connectivity of the tmobile version though and might not have all the features like wifi calling

I'd rather buy it unlocked. I ditched the Verizon branding last year.

Actually it makes perfect sense. You aren't going to start with all the sudden launching on every carrier. You start with one and then branch out. Not to mention this would give them time to create more supply for once the exclusivity period ends.

Just read an article that said they might only be releasing on Verizon here. Who knows when though

If the Verizon phone comes factory sim unlocked then it is unlocked. Though it sounds like you don't want a carrier specific device.

Re: Exclusive to verizon????

I have a Lumia 928 from Verizon and have been using it for T-Mobile. It works, but always had trouble with SMS and MMS. Right now I can't send any SMS messages at all. I messed with all configurations. So don't be to sure this will work perfectly.

Re: Exclusive to verizon????

I am not a big fan of exclusives, but this phone possibly coming to Verizon i am a huge fan of.

Should be a lot of great phones coming this summer and i am happy that Sony could be a choice for Verizon customers.
There is so much to like about this phone;
Specs, camera, duel speakers, battery life, water proof, screen and Sony build quality.

Re: Exclusive to verizon????

I'll bet the Z2 will not be offered by any U.S. carrier. To not have one solid word about availability (other than rumors which almost always are inaccurate) at this late date on any carrier, is not a good sign. Couple that with the track record of recent Sonys being invisible among the U.S. carriers, and that's not a good recipe for seeing them in the U.S.

Importing seems to be the only viable option at this point and I'm not taking that risk. If Sony were to sell an unlocked version in the U.S. that worked on AT&T, I might consider it if the camera shows up as being better than the poor pix & videos we've seen thus far. But until then, the S5 is the way I'll go...surprisingly so.
