I purchased a license of Xtralogic Remote Desktop for $24 through Android Market. I contacted the developer if they can transfer my license to Amazon Appstore. They said I have to pay another license if I want to use the app in Kindle Fire.

It doesn't seem fair I have to pay twice in order to use it on my phone+android tablet, and Kindle fire. Those are all my personal device that I'm the only one using it.

If I purchased the app first at Amazon Appstore, I can run them both on Kindle and android phone/tablet. Only if I purchased at Android market, I can't use it in Kindle. :/

So lesson learn, anything I will buy from now on, will be on Amazon Appstore.

If you have it on another device, you should be able to get the apk and sideload it on the kindle fire. I regularly used titanium backup on my phone, the resulting backups have tar.gz archives containing the .apk of every app it backs up. You don't need to use titanium to get them but it makes it convenient for me anyway. Be aware some apps will not run on the fire, or run properly.

I've heard the amazon appstore isn't that... friendly to developers. So a number of them have steered clear of it.

It isn't the case being Amazon Appstore not friendly or not. It's the developer being greedy. He could have transfer my license from Android Market to Amazon Appstore. Or offer a refund or a discount so I can get it to work on Kindle. The email reply was just one cold line saying I need to buy another license.

That app is available in both Amazon Appstore and Android Market. If I purchased it at appstore, I am already able to use it in both devices. What they are doing is to punish customer who support them at an early android stage.

I have used Titanium backup to extract the apk (ver 2.14). It won't work in Kindle as it gives an error message saying cannot connect to Android Market for license. I found a version 2.12 .apk online and be able to use it now.

I don't want to go that route, and I want to support good software development. First, they charge this software $24. Second, they don't provide after sales support. I would not pay 2 licenses for this same software for the same platform.

An analogy: You buy a videogame for your Xbox 360. Do you think you could contact EA and ask them to swap you a copy (i.e. transfer the license) for your Playstation 3?

Your analog does not represents the reality. I understand if that's a different platform, that's your case, Just like if I paid for Microsoft Office for Windows, I can't ask Microsoft to transfer the license to Mac. Same as XBox and PS are different platforms.

Here i'm using the same platform, Android. More to that, if I purchase a license through Amazon Appstore, I can install the software all on my android phone, tablet, as well as Kindle Fire.

From now on, if there is a software available on both Android Market and Amazon Appstore, I will buy it at Appstore.

Not everything that is in the Amazon App Shack translates to all devices, especially the Fire. I can buy an app from A'zon and download it to my Galaxy 2, EVO, and Transformer, but it's invisible to the Fire. Conversely, until someone figure out how to jam the Android Market onto the Fire, the walls are still up at A'zon's whim.

While the Fire runs Android, it was never sold as an Android tablet. This distinction makes the difference.

If you buy an app through amazon appstore on the kindle fire, it will be compatible to kindle and other compatible android version.

I read there are already android market installed to footed kindle.

Bottom line is I'm not going to pay another $24.95 to xtralogic. I already found a way. Also I noe bought app at amazon appstore now if they are available in both Appstore and Market.

In fact, I might not keep the kindle too as there are do much restriction. And the carroselle is driving me crazy.
