Today I went to CW with the intension of buying an XZ2..... and took my XZ P with me with the idea of Maybe trading it in to offset the Upfront cost..

But when I tried out the XZ2 (amazingly they actually had a working demo unit), Ive getta be honest.... after 20 minutes or so... I didnt notice that much if any difference to my XZP. Even the Stereo Speakers, while the XZ2 speakers are slightly Louder, the XZP sounds just as rich.. and because the XZP has a big flat surface area on the rear of the phone, as well as having large top and bottom bezels for the speakers, which act as small echo chambers.. the XZP already vibrates.. and "Rumbles" when its above 75% volume, just like the xz2.

The rear camera on the 2 is sharper on 100% crop, although not by muh, but the focus and shutter trigger is the same speed on both. The front camera on the 2 is terrible and washed out .. apps open the same speed on both...

But when I thought about my XZP.... The XZP still gets current Monthly updates, has a Stunning 4k screen and "Wipes tears away" has a <sniff> headphone jack... So for me... ill be sticking with my XZP... at least till the XZ2P arrives in uk..

What do you guys think?..

Also, is there anyone here who swapped to the 2 from the Premium?

Cheers

I'm on a Pixel 2 now but Sony is always one of my favourite smartphone brands. I'm always checking them out. The XZ2 ******* flies at opening apps! Insane! Hope this new line does well.

You do know that Sony has no current plans to release the Premium version of the XZ2 here in the UK this time around right?
We're not worthy of it now apparently

Unbelievable. I thought UK was one of their better markets. Damnit.

I hadnt heard that.. Why not.. I do actually like the XZ2... in fact Ive been debating between the XZ2 and the P20 Pro... I love SONYs ui, and Im not sure i need 40mpx, but I have heard the Speakers on the P20Pro are better..

But theres just something gorgeous about a SONY phone.. Im still undecided

I have had the XZ2 for little over a week. I like the phone a lot. The software is fluid; it has little bloatware, and it had a beautiful design. The camera is excellent all though not the best.

With all that said, I will be selling my XZ2 due to the quality of the performance of the phone on T-Mobile’s network. I can deal with no VoLTE and no WiFi Calling, but I can not deal with the poor signal quality. This phone fails to pick up signal in places my Pixel 2XL, Mate 10 Pro and now my P20 Pro can. When Sony finally gets this issue corrected, l will be more than happy to try Sony again.

I was having another look on YouTube at this phone to see if it had Always On Display yet. So frustrating that they've KINDA added it but you have to raise the phone to make it appear like Motorola's approach to it. Some people prefer that but I'd so much prefer the option to have it on all the time. It also has Double Tap To Wake but again - only after you raise the photo to activate that glance function. 2 features that I love that are almost included but not enough for me to seriously consider one yet which is a bummer cos I really like their phones

How is the camera compared to the Mate 10 Pro and the P20 Pro ?

@cert15z Surprising, I have the US model XZ2 on T-Mobile and also have Pixel 2 XL and iPhone X. Over the past week I never had any signal/network issues or signal strength issues compared to Pixel 2 XL or iPhone X.

I had an Essential phone earlier as well, and that thing had horrible signal on T-Mobile. So I do know that bad signal looks like and performs like

I had the Essential on T-Mobile, and that was horrible on that network. The XZ2 is nowhere near that level.

The reason may be that I have an international model, but as far as I can tell, it has the same bands as the US version. I also have an international P20 Pro and it excellent on T-Mobile. It even has VoLTE.

I think the camera is much improved over the Mate 10 Pro. The low light capabilities on the P20 Pro are fantastic, way better than any other phone to date.

May be the radio software is better optimized on the US model even though it might have similar bands? I know you can flash Sony firmwares thru some tool but not sure if it's available for XZ2 yet on order to try flashing US firmware and see if that improves.
