You are diggin' your Nexus.... but what's next??

A bigger question with the Motorola/Google venture is, will we see a Motorola Nexus next?

YES. I love the build of Motorola devices. It'd be awesome if a Motorola Nexus were to come out when my I'm eligible for upgrade again.

Nexus until the new Nexus. Im done with oem skins. I will let manufacturers know that I want pure Android experience. Only way to make them see it is by votingwith my wallet. I hope VZW had good sale numbers with this Galaxy Nexus so they will consider the next one generation of devices. This device feels like the good ole og droid days.

just living in the moment and luvin my nexus. Definitely the next phone I get will be another nexus. It'd be cool if motorola made a nexus in the future.

I do love the Nexus, but to say it's my only phone for the next 2 years isn't practical. Software will become more and more demanding and you will only be able to overclock this bad boy to about 2Ghz stable if you are lucky and perhaps 2.3ghz if you are living on the edge. (remember we are underclocked at 1.2ghz)

Quad Core 1.5ghz phones will be fairly common end of the year. So we will see.

Ideally I want to keep on the Nexus band wagon, but I love verizon service for my area and I doubt they will get the next Nexus phone... Just a feeling.

Has anyone been able to overclock the gnex passed 1.4 ghz without stability issues yet? Thought we found this phone didn't take to over clocking too well already.

Not that I've seen - I know the processor itself is rated up to 1.5ghz, but I think there are other hardware factors at work that were skimped on, so that is what's limiting it.

I feel like if i let go of this phone this year, i'll be making a mistake. I have 4G, dual core and good battery life. ROMS will only get better and the build quality will last. If i grab a new phone early, i will have to start all over again. No thanks. Im not gonna jump ship just for quad-core.

I agree with most of you here. I think that moving forward the only devices i will purchase will be nexus. I have owned the iphone and the EVO, the Xoom and samsung 10.1 tablet and until now. This is the first OS that google has put out that needs BARELY any tweaking.

This is the first time i would EVER recommend an android phone to someone that isnt tech savy. The folders the smoothness the customization, and how sleek the phone is and camera are HUGE selling points. being able to take panoramic pics on the fly (was in NY for the first time last week and the top of the rock) is amazing. MANY of my friends and family love the pictures i have taken. the shutter speed and focus take a bit of getting used to but once you get it down you will never take a blurry photo again.

I to, love new tech and I will drool over all the new devices at CES and CTIA BUT I can say with extreme confidence that I will be extremely happy with this phone for at least a year and a half. I havent been this satisfied with a phone for some time and I am extremely happy that google got it right this time around!

The Nexus is my 2nd Android device and came to it from the Incredible. I was a big fan of roms, switching constantly between CM & Sense based ones. When I was running a CM rom, I was trying to make it look as nice as Sense.

Now that I am running ICS, I have no desire for it to look like anything else and I actually don't miss Sense (I know, I know, many people hate it but it really was the best looking of them all). That said, for me to leave behind my Nexus, I would need a pretty remarkable change to one of the OEM 'skins', and a phone the same size. I compared my DInc to the Nexus today and couldn't believe how small my phone was before. It will be tough to leave the size of this phone and the clarity of picture.

What's my next phone? The UI has to be as, well, pretty as 4.0, 4.5" or bigger, considerably faster, better camera but keeping the functionality of the Nexus camera, and the ability to correctly sync and merge my contacts from G+, Facebook, Twitter, email and whatever other social item is out there at the time.

8mm thin or less, 4"-4.3" HD/IPS screen (4.65" is just a bit too big for my mits), LTE, 64GB internal composite storage (like the GN), a decent camera, and a Kal-El+ or Wayne (Tegra 4) SoC and maybe I'd be tempted. Otherwise, this grass is plenty green for a while (provided they work out the more salient bugs). ;)

At this point, I couldn't care less what comes next. My phone isn't even 1 month old. Looking for something else at this stage is ridiculous. Are you unhappy with your car after a few weeks...your wife/girl friend...your dog (or cat if you're a liberal)?

I agree. I am perfectly happy with my nexus and will be happy for it for at least a year and then I will look and see what the options are. I am not tied to any OS and if IOS or wp catches my eye when I am due for an upgrade I will go that route, but atm I am happy with my nexus and no looking at what is next for me.

I thought the same thing going into this phone....was looking to see if there was going to be an iphone 5...a windows phone....anything that caught my eye.....but in reality i was a little bit bias toward android. So when i heard "Nexus on Verizon"....my open mind kind shut real quick. I love this thing and think it will do me fine till my next upgrade....then ill be open minded...kinda.

I really dig this phone,.... except for the phone part. I have had and continue to have issues with one way voice issues that occur during calls, loud picket fence squelching during calls occasionally and very bad reception. All this within the city limits of Minneapolis a major metropolitan area. My son's 3g phone is fine, My old kerosine powered LG flip phone was fine, My wife's flip phone works great. Perhaps this is simply the problem of new technology and it all gets better as time goes on... I hope.
BTW, I logged a service call about bad phone connection four days ago, was promised follow up and have heard nothing.

Shut up, shut up shut up!

I just got my phone three hours ago and I will love it forever and ever and ever and ooh, is that CES next week?...

I won't get another phone unless Verizon releases another nexus. When Google stops giving this phone timely updates I'll move to CyanogenMod. I should be set for at least 3 years.

Depends. If something with ICS comes out that I really like in the summer, I might upgrade then. Otherwise, I'll hold out until after the next Nexus comes out. (I'll be due for an upgrade on Verizon then) At that point I'll decide if I want to stick with Verizon, or if I want to move to AT&T's LTE.

Cat if you're liberal? Haha I have both so I don't know where that places me on the spectrum. P.S. I can't wait to get my GN.

As much as I'm loving my google Nexus, I'm looking forward to picking up an iPhone 5 this year. Yes really.
