I've had my Samsung Galaxy S4 for a few months now & haven't had any problems with it. However, recently (over the past few weeks) my browser will open by itself & show warning messages. They tell me that my phone is in grave danger & I need to update my applications or that I have potential threats & viruses? I have AVG installed on my phone & I run regular scans. So far, AVG has found no problems or potential problems at all. I figured that maybe I'd downloaded a dodgy app so went through & uninstalled the more recent apps that I thought may be the cause. But this hasn't worked & it's still happening. I feel secure enough as I have got the AVG protection but it's still a but unnerving constantly seeing these messages! Does anyone know if they are genuine messages? Or if there is anyway to stop it from happening? I've clicked through on the link it gives before & it just took me to the play store & told me to download a security app, but as I said, I already have AVG.
Do you have anything installed from Cheetah Mobile ( CM Security, Clean Master, Battery Doctor etc) DU Apps aka Baidu (DU Battery Saver, DU Speed Booster, etc) Go Development (GO Launcher, GO SMS, etc). Uninstall any of these. They are notorious for causing problems but there are a lot of other companies guilty of bad behavior. So it could be one or more of many other apps. Of course, anything you have installed by a company named in these pop-up ads should be uninstalled.
Try installing and running AddOns Detector. It's pretty good at finding what throws up nag ads.

This is one view, but I would go to Settings - Security - Device Administrators and uncheck AVG if it's there and uninstall it. Only Android Device Manager (Google account location service) and Samsung's version should be there.
You really don't need anti-virus, but the safest one seems to be Malwarebytes which I used to run once a week.
I would clear the Cache and App data on the browser you use, even uninstall updates and let it start and load updates again.

I've been having the same issue. Sometimes it will take me to Chrome and say my Android is in grave danger and needs upgrading. Other times it will take me to the PlayStore to different games. It's really odd. I have an HTC ONE M7 with the 360 Security app. Majority of apps on this phone, I've had on my previous smartphones and this never happened.
I'm at a loss as to what to do from here.

Try Safe Mode, which will test whether the trouble is being caused by a third-party app.

I recently purchased a new Galaxy Tab A and a Galaxy 6 phone and downloaded MP3 player called MP3 downloader. Right after I did I started receiving the same issues on both devices as listed above. I quickly uninstalled both and now am free of these pop ups. That is definitely the source of my issues. I hope this helps !
The next time The browser opens ctrl c the link and tell me. You may have installed an virus installer called Mobi. It's nothing to worry about, just install a simple virus cleaner of the play store, either malwarebytes or trojan detector and scan. If this fails then just delete all files except the one marked android. Unfortunately this will delete sane data for some apps and get rid of all media files but it is the most simple way. The final resort is evidently the factory reset, but that will delete everything.
I finally pinpointed what it was that's been messing with my phone for the past year! A year or two ago I downloaded DU Battery Saver and DU Speed booster, and sadly they DO work, they helped extend my battery, (it sucks now without them) but I was getting these warnings from Findforfun.com and fbhpadmax and a few other sites.
Most of these sites are trackable and trailed back to places like India and I cant remember the others.
Here lately the favorite warning I've been getting is (mind you, i'm female,) "Your phone has visited illegal porn sites, and therefore your IP is going to be locked and sent in to the FBI and your crimes punishment." Etc etc. I just find it sorta funny/sad because I despise pornographic material, and haven't actually visited a site on purpose.
Like, I have DU Battery Saver on my tablet and it hasn't had the same issues, then again I dont use it enough, haha.
But yeah ive had the same experiences.. I've tried alot to remove it, cleaning out my browsers cache, deleting offending apps, but nothing's worked for me.
It sucks when I occasionally unlock my phone and it just suddenly pops up with a vibrating webpage from apps or just my home page.

Welcome to the forums. There is very little reason to clear anything out of RAM on Android. Android, unlike Windows, likes having RAM full. This aids in app switching, to make it more effective.
