YouTube app refuses to work....

Isn't it embarrassing that YouTube is a product by Google yet it doesn't work on a Google device? That makes no sense to me. But the YouTube app works just fine on the Palm Pre.

its not Google or Android thats the problem, its HTC broke the app with the last update. It "Should" be resolved with 2.1
I have March 26th marked on my google calendar, I hope thats legit.

Where did you get that date? I hope that you are right.

Wanred to let people know the 2.1 YouTube app is awesome, loads videos fast, and HD looks amazing

Let's hope it is equally awesome for the Hero when we get the update. I like the video quality in high definition. If we can just get it to work, everything will be great. Do you know what the other goodies from the update will be?

Sure, I'm running it on my hero (built from the Droid Eris leak) with everything working. Of you are weary of rooting, I can say is it is well worth the wait. I don't have friendstream, so I don't know what its like, but 2.1 is Hella fast. Bluetooth file transfer without a market app needed. 2.0+ apps work as expected. Sprint apps work, plus run faster (a little, its still no nexus, but I'm definitely happy). I do have to say I'm using Gumbo kernal and HTC's may not be as fast. Very few force closes, in fact I get 1 and I don't touch it, it goes away. Checkout damageless Rom if you are interested.
Apparently bank of America won't work, but no one knows why, I'm a Wachovia customer so no issues for me. UrbanSpoon worked for me, but others reported issues. I'm very happy.

I also heard that we will not be getting full flash support.

Sounds great that the device is going to be a lot faster. Dies It come with the Google navigation application too? I also heard that we will not be getting full flash support for the web browser. Have you heard that?

There's flash support, it seems better than the Flash Lite we have in 1.5, but it still can't run hulu (but it doesn't say it can't, it says something about servers being down, which they weren't). So I can't confirm full flash, but its faster at rendering flash items then before. The browser itself is much much better. I remember seeing videos of the N1 creaming the Hero in browser loading, I'd like to challenge it now cause its definitely an improvement in 2.1.
My version is a leaked Eris, so there are some setbacks and things just won't work on it. Its as close as we will get probably (however, the dev said he was updating it soon) until the official release. It has the N1 gallery (something that may not come with the actual release) that is amazing. It was designed by the cool iris group and does an amazing job at displaying 3D effects. The reason it may not come on official release is that landscape mode does not work. It is most likely due to a resolution issue, but it just get completely messed up until you put it back into portrait.
There is no lag waking up the phone.
The app Bluetooth File Transfer is not needed, file transfer comes right out of the box! And it works very well. I transfered some pictures from my mac to my phone to test it out. There is a Desk Clock added in this release. Not very useful unless you have a way to stand it up.
I can't really comment on battery life. So far for me its worse, but then again, its also because its running like 100% runtime. I've gotten it down since, so I'm expecting it to be around par. Also, I haven't really put the phone down. This leak has made me soooo happy and content. Rarely do I see a force close now.

It sounds like 2.1 is great. I cant wait for it to cone out. According to one If your previous posts, it should be out within a couole of weeks. I have become sttsched to my device too. I was starting to think that I wouldn't keep it long, that I would end up going back to my reliable BlackBerry, but I think that the Hero is growing on me. After the update, who knows, It may be perfect. One last question, dies the update have the Google Navigation?

yeah, it does, haven't used it, though.
It has voice guided directions just like Sprint Nav, you just have to install another app in the market.

I just wanted to mention that if you load the gallery from the N1 in landscape mode it will work in landscape but then it won't switch to portrait. I agree that I can't see sprint dropping Sprint Nav but when the update comes you will be amazed by Google Nav. You can go into menu-->layers-->satellite view and overlay satellite view. You will be driving along and say to yourself, "I never knew there was a lake there" Also the traffic updates work really well at least it did the one time I was stuck in traffic. Traffic broke up right where the map said it would.

I used it last night to go to McDonalds. Just as I got there, the Street View popped up on its own, which is awesome in its own. Also, I impressed my girlfriend with voice searching it. I had bluetooth on, but that doesn't work, but if the phone is out and exposed, it should pick up your voice fine. I agree, I may no longer have a need for Sprint Nav (even though I really like it and used it in the past). I like the buzz layer too in maps, but since last week was Sprint Break for UF, no one in town was buzzing except the losers like me who were in town (I had my spring break the week before, so I couldn't go anywhere).
