YouTube controls missing from full screen

With the latest YouTube update, when I go full screen, after the controls disappear, they will not reappear.

Rebooting, powering off/on, force stop, clearing cache/data for YouTube had no effect.

When I uninstalled all the updates, then the controls started reappearing again as I expect. I updated to the latest version again, and the same thing happened.

Anyone else seeing this?

When this has happened in the past, it was due to some glitch that was corrected in the next update. Send feedback to YouTube/Google, and then you'll probably have to wait for the next update.

I figured, so I'm leaving it on the old version for now until I see an updated one appear.

I've already submitted feedback.

I noticed the exact same problem today on my Note 10.1 2014 - seems okay on my Moto X, so maybe just a tablet issue?

I think so. I don't have any problems on my S4, and I can't really try on my Nexus 7 as it now has Lollipop and playing videos right now is messed up with that combination.

*sigh* Where's the f-king FEEDBACK OPTION in the Android app? I've been searching for it for the last 20 minutes :P

Open YouTube, tap the menu button at the upper right, then Help & Feedback, then tap Feedback in the upper right.

Same thing here on my Galaxy Tab 4. I submitted your post as feedback. Hope you don't mind.

I don't mind at all. I've been trying to communicate with Google, but they seem fixated on other things and not reading what I've written. First they thought I was talking about the new music feature they added, then they thought I was watching purchased movies through the Youtube app, when I never mentioned them in the first place.

They did give me a free movie rental, however.

This is not the first time they've completely crippled this app. Not so long ago, I fired it up one day to find that all of my playlists were gone. They need to fire whoever is head of QA on this project. The real irony of it all is that the iPad app has no such issues :P

What device is this happening on? YouTube works fine on my old Nexus 7, but my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is missing the controls in full screen. My Google search for this problem led me here.

I didn't realize what forum I was in. This definitely appears to be a bug specific to Samsung tablets. I reverted to an earlier version of youtube and if works fine.

Google replied to me that this is for the Tab Pro 10.1 (though your comment makes me think it's for all Tab Pro models) and engineering is working on a fix.

Well my youtube automatically updated, and in playing around with the app I found a workaround. If I enter full screen in portrait mode, the controls work, and then I can flip it to landscape and the controls are still there.

This is confirmed. Thanks for the workaround!

Sent from my tab 10.1

Since yesterday it's everything back to normal. Controls on full screen are back( YT Material design, version 6.0 or something like that).
