YouTube in the background

Is this possible? (A widget might possibly do it but that's not what I'm looking for)

But yeah, I don't understand why I can't be in YouTube leave the app to do something else and still play the music in the background. This phone has more than enough quality hardware to multitask like that. Is this with all androids or is this a s3 specific thing? I know iDevices can do it. Something I use quite often. Am I just ignorant of the way of doing it or is it impossible?

one way is an app called tubemate. its free but not in google play. it downloads the video so you can listen to it with your favourite music player.
