So if i ask google to play Talking Heads, it's says "check out this Talking Heads channel" and then plays "once in a lifetime" followed by "Psychokiller" followed by.....every time. No variety what so ever.
Am I doing something wrong?

Interestingly, when I said that command, it also started with "Once in a Lifetime," but "Psycho Killer" wasn't the followup when I asked it to skip tracks. And when I told it to stop, and then asked it to play Talking Heads again, it started with a different song. What happens if you tell Google Assistant to stop, and then ask it to play Talking Heads again?

BTW, I moved this from General News to General Help.

I tried that and it went back to the same 2 songs.
Did it say it was playing their "channel"?

It did say "channel." Interestingly, when I subsequently asked it to "Play Waveshaper," it said it was playing the Waveshaper "station." I'm scratching my head a bit.

Sometimes when I ask it to play music from a certain artist, and I have downloaded music from that artist, it will play that (I do have Talking Heads albums downloaded). Other times it plays their channel.
I don't get it.
I'm in the middle of a 3-month free trial of Youtube premium and, so far, am unimpressed.

I find that YT Music works well if I'm using the web interface or app -- I rarely use Assistant to access it, because I like having finer control. The music selection is still phenomenal. UI still needs work, but to their credit, they're gradually improving it.

Being both a YT Premium and Spotify subscriber, I'd still say I prefer YT Music's interface over Spotify's.

Undersood.

I'm attempting to build a semi-smart home with Google devices. The whole purpose is to use voice commands to control things and not pull out a laptop or other device.

It's still growing, I get it. I mainly want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong.
