Z3 portrait mode ignored 6.0.1

Getting really hacked off since move to mm. My screen is set to portrait on quick settings. With auto rotate off in display and accessibility settings. Wanting to read in bed. It still rotates the apps.
Factory reset, reboot, and Sony image done through companion app. Tempted to flash back to 5.1.1

Welcome to Android Central! Which app are you using to read? Check the app's own settings and make sure it doesn't have its own orientation settings (which I doubt, but it's worth looking for anyway).

If the phone is on charge by USB works fine. If using the magnetic power connector overrides the orientation control
