Z4root after update?

I've been trying to get z4root to work on my evo, but haven't had any luck. I've tried many different ways, but none seem to have rooted the phone. The Z4root app says everything is fine and the root was successful on the temp. root option. Then when i try the permanent option, it reboots but isn't rooted. I've had the superuser app come up, and i've updated it through the market, but still no root. That's about as far as i've gotten.

Is the recent update for the evo preventing it from working? I've read that it does and that it doesn't... Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know why its doing this? Thanks for the help!

Yup, z4root version 1.3 will only be able to temporarily root the evo.

I agree with "TheFred". It only give you a temp root. Also "root" access seem to get lost over time even without rebooting your phone. It's only good for very basic and limited function. Full root is the way to go. Trust me you'll never look back.

What I actually want is something to do a temporary root on my EVO to let me tether my galaxy tab to it's wifi hotspot.

Will the Z4root do this on the most current ota software on Evo?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense...I've had the phone since June and am just now growing enough stones to want to root it.

You have to get z4root and then the wireless tether app and then you can do what you want.
