Z4Root and Gingerbreak Root on VM LG Optimus V

Has anyone tried using Z4Root and/or Gingerbreak and sucessfully having full root? I really dont want to go through the hassle of using adb or superoneclick.

I used to have heroCDMA and Z4Root worked perfectly, only thing I had to do was when it said "rebooting os" I was told to pull the battery, wait 30 seconds. I had full root after I turned on my hero.

I hear that there's been patches for Gingerbreak so you won't be able to do a full root anymore, but they always make a new version and everythings back to normal. Really haven't heard about Z4Root though.

Anyone had a successful FULL ROOT with Z4Root or a new version of Gingerbreak yet? Please post links :]

gingerbreak works great. z4root, superoneclick work on pv4 firmware optimus v's (older ones with 2.2.1 froyo)

Thanks a bunch. Looks like I'm going to Gingerbreak then next week, when I buy my new phone :]. I hear they always find a patch to make Gingerbreak unusable everytime, but I'll take your word for it. Yet again, thanks for your help.

I'm going to be using ThaUnknownArtists ICS Rom, Until he make a new build from ICS framework ;]

I've rooted two different pv5 firmware ov's with gingerbreak, no problems.
slightly different pv5.xxxxx versions even. bought one for $50 at the horrid post-Thanksgiving sale.

I've been doing my research since last night about Gingerbreak and I've been reading that there's been patches that make it unusable. Makes me want to avoid updating the OTA updates. I tried getting the ov but they were fresh out. I'm going to get one this Sunday.

the optimus v doesn't have any ota updates, and probably won't be any or they'd have pushed one when 2.2.2 started showing up on new ov's.
