Are there really any major differences between Zefies 2.3 rom and AOSPs 2.3 rom?

I have been running Zefies for a while now and been wondering if I would benefit in any way from switching over to AOSPs.

zefies is about a month out of date. Aosp is constantly updated and has bug fixes. Zefies seemed to use to have better battery life, but now I'd say they're pretty much even.

MMS is needed that bad? I just have my friends text my gmail. Works pretty well. And you can still send MMS just fine on 2.3

Go AOSP. Zefie's hasn't been updated in a month whereas AOSP has been squashing bugs left and right. He fixed the battery drain, audio, and keeping up to date with the Cyanogen source. And he said he's got some ideas on how to get MMS working. so, go AOSP.

Oh and if nobody noticed, the cell standby bug is also fixed. So no more putting the phone into airplane mode when you start it up.I've tested it.(But I still do it anyway, as a habit)

Ok that is good to know. I am having a problem though. I seem to have lost root access on my phone for whatever reason.

I use the app rootchecker to check and superuser, another app needed for this, always gives me a forceclose then I get the message on rootchecker saying "Sorry you do not have root access." This is strange because I have been rooted since day one and I have been running Zefies 2.3 for a while now.

How would I go about rerooting my phone and installing the latest clockwork recovery so I can install AOSPs 2.3?

OK thanks, I figured I had root access because of the # but wasnt sure if it was only temp root because I was using superoneclick while doing that. I just dont understand why Rootchecker says I do not have root access. Thats weird.

OK I guess Im really not rooted. I went to flash Clockworkmod Recovery from Terminal Emulator and when I typed in "su" I got the superuser forceclose once again and I got "permission denied."

What can I do to fix this and have my phone rooted again? Am I missing something?

open superuser and make sure you don't have the permission for Terminal Emulator set to "deny" OR use adb shell on your desktop to flash the recovery.

I am good to go now rooted and running the latest AOSP 2.3 rom. What I did was run adb on my desktop with superoneclick giving me temp root. My phone was in recovery mode, as stated in the guide I found, when I flashed the Clockworkmod Recovery via adb. I then went ahead and followed the instructions and flashed over AOSPs 2.3 rom. I am once again rooted as well. Im not sure if it is perm root or not but it got the job done and Rootchecker now says I am rooted.

One thing that I am having trouble with AOSP's CM7 is it isn't integrating with Google Voice properly. I don't know about the other ROMs though.
EDIT: I got it to work by reinstalling the ROM.
