ZenWatch 3 died, darn it!

So, about a week ago, I put on my ZW3 and there was a black line straight through the center of the display. No idea what happened, just apparently a strip of the OLED panel died. Persisted through numerous reboots and a factory restore, so definitely hardware. Amazon was kind enough to take it back -- it was a couple of days beyond the end of the holiday return period.

Now, I'm missing the darn thing. I'd wondered if a smartwatch is something I really need, or just a curiosity. After not wearing it for a week or so, I'm realizing it's something I actually use and adds value. So, I'm going to be picking up a new smartwatch for my birthday in March.

I've checked out the new Google LG watches, and don't like them. I prefer the ZW3's look, and the two buttons vs. the single button on the LG Style version. I do NOT want some big hunk of thing like the LG Sport looks like, and don't care about heart tracking and GPS in the watch.

So, I guess I'll see what Huawei comes out with in their version 2 device, which should be announced in the next couple of weeks. But I'm very strongly leaning toward getting another ZW3.

I took this picture as a comparison

Thanks for that. The second image in particular makes my decision pretty firm. I understand even the Style is a bit thicker -- I did like the way the ZW3 sat on my wrist.

The zw3 sits nice and flat on the wrist. This is more or less a trial of aw 2.0 as I am going to return it within 14 days

From what I can see, the ZW3 really is the best-looking Android Wear watch out there. I'm interested in seeing what the Huawei 2.0 will look like, although I'm expecting it to be expensive. I also like the ZW3's $229 pricetag.

Also, from what I can tell from pictures, the LG Style has a funky huge black strip around the screen inside the metal bezel. Much prefer the ZW3's display being flush with the metal.

My birthday is in mid-March. Hopefully AW 2.0 will be out around then.

I have had multiple people give my ZW3 a surprised look. They say that its seems too thin and stylish to be a smartwatch.

Pretty much my feeling as well. Looking more that the LG Style, I don't see any advantage and a few disadvantages -- and it's not nearly as good looking. And the ZW3 is less expensive. Seems like a no-brainer, really.

Zw3 has a perfect look to it. I want my smartwatch not to look like a smartwatch and more like a traditional classic watch. The lg sport just stands out too much because it's so thick

I'm so sorry that your ZW3 died out! Huawei does have a nice selection of smartwatches and I'm sure their next batch will be pretty cool; but if you really like the experience your Asus watch gave you, perhaps you should stick with that one! Let us know what you decide!

Yeah, I've pretty much decided on the ZW3 again. Not really impressed with the Huawei 2, either versions.
