ZTE Grand X Max 2 video player acting up

So i have a Grand X Max 2, and the video player for it, as well as Facebook, YouTube and just about any other video service I use will do the same thing. Basically, if I have a 3 minute (00:03:00) video, the player will jump it straight to the end of the video and read out some absurd number like 24:57:03/00:03:00. If it doesn't do the odd number thing, then it will just jump to the very end of the video and in both cases, if I close it down and pull it back up, or move the time of the video back over to the very beginning, it will just jump to the end. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Welcome to Android Central! Open Google Play Store and search for Android System Webview--is it up to date?

What version of Android is it running? Try this:

1. Make sure Developer Options is turned on. If you don't see it in your System Settings, then go to Settings>About Phone, and tap Build Number 7 times.
2. Go to Developer Options, and look for an option to toggle between NuPlayer and AwesomePlayer. If you find that option, toggle to the other selection.

I think NuPlayer vs AwesomePlayer is only on Lollipop devices, but it's still worth checking.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen in Safe Mode as well? On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

You can probably just test the stock video player app in Safe Mode, but at least you can see if the problem goes away.

Safe mode won't allow facebook to open to check. Have used the video player with my videos and they work well but when it comes to videos on facebook and some other websites (can't recall sites) the video works for a sec and stop as if the just finished. Everything is up to date.

The OP had mentioned the stock video player not working either, so that's why I suggested it. Does your stock video player work in the first place?

Go to the Play Store and look for Android System Webview. Is it up to date? If not, then update it. But if it is updated, then try uninstalling updates, because sometimes updates to this system app can cause problems.

Is this only happening with videos on your mobile browser, or are you talking about the Facebook apps and other actual apps?

Mostly facebook but yes in web browser and YouTube as well all apps are up to date .. My saved videos play correctly not problem at all ... I have a great internet connection so it's not that..

Sorry, but I still want to be 100% certain of what you mean--you're saying that videos on the Facebook and YouTube apps also have problems along with videos in the browser? Or are you referring to the Facebook and YouTube websites?

This kind of thing can be hard to troubleshoot, because if some app you installed is causing a conflict, you won't be able to tell unless you uninstall that app. And unless you have some clue as to which app is causing the problem, you may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away.

Well unfortunately it's happening to me as well. Even after uninstalling all apps except for facebook. Looks like im going to have to get a new phone

Has this issue been resolved cause I bought this phone with out doing a research big mistake not only do I have problems with the video play but it also gets glitchy out of no where mainly when I use the Facebook messenger

Really need a resolved issue with this. I own a grand x max 2 and it happens to me as well and don't know how to fix this issue. Anybody find anything?

I work at Cricket and this is a very common issue with these phones. I happen to own the same phone. The issue lays somewhere in the Facebook app itself. Trying closing out the Facebook app by using the right dot and hitting the clear all button. YouTube and the web browser videos will work after this. ZTE hasn't come out with a solution to this but I'm hoping they are. Sorry about the inconvenience once I find a fix for it I'll post it.
