Yesterday I was heading to Elizabeth and traffic was slow for about 15 minutes because of rubber necker's looking at the Northbound lane when an SUV plowed into the back end of a tractor trailer. End of the truck was pretty far into the windshield. Couldn't tell if there were fatalities but I didn't see any ambulance.
Oh wow

Yeah , gotta catch them right time , same with 80 and 280. Good thing you don't travel much .

Hear, hear. I used to have to go up near there to escort my fiancée to lunch when she was a logistician with a trucking firm. In the winter I'd take her and pick her up in my SUV. This was in Liitle Falls then later South Kearney. I was semi-retired even then so instead of resenting having to go there I made it a twice-weekly adventure.

I couid have lived in Liitle Falls. Charming area with a rural feel to it. We used to stop at the Entenmann's outlet a couple times a week. My fiancée's job required a quick transfer from Maryland at the end of 2008. I was almost retired then and was swept up in the process of moving quickly. Instead of investigating locations further north we located in the Princeton/Plainsboro area. We looked in North Arlington and Belleville on the recommendation of her superiors but chose to stay farther south to be nearer to family.

When i was in my twenties I had a notion that I wanted to live in a university/college town. My fiancée and I lived on the Maryland Delaware state line we were right there next to the University of Delaware and the Chrysler Newark Assembly plant. Then we ended up quite near Princeton University so I figured that box was checked. Actually, because my family went past it so often when going to upstste Pennsylvania to stay at our cabin, it was near Bloomsburg University that I wanted to live. They also have a big fair there in September and that caught my eye when I was about ten years old.

Michigan gets very cold even in early November. I was working in the auto industry but primarily out east in New Jersey, Delaware, sometimes Ohio. I packed what I thought was adequate clothing for a trip to Warren, Michigan, in November of '95. It was a week's stay at a job shop which was taking over the manufacture of seating systems from a plant which was divesting those jobs in New Jersey. Every time I had to go outside the wind and cold bit right through my clothing. I was dumbfounded. The very next week I was on vacation to go fishing on the Jersey shore but right then, standing in the cold of Warren, Michigan I couldn't handle the cold. I had to go to Sears to get some Duofold insulated underwear. On the way to Sears I saw a B-52 flying around. This was also right around the 20th anniversary of the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

I agree. That Blizzard of '96 paralyzed this area. Shoveled sixteen hours over two days. Bought a Toro a snow-thrower after that. That machine was like a charm to ward-off blizzards. Sold it in 2003 a year after my wife passed away and I sold the home.

While we've been chatting my Note10 Plus received the Number 12 update. I really do not want to trade-in that phone now. I'm in no hurry to get my Note20 Ultra which is due shortly. Time is going fast enough as it is. I'm heading to sleep. Good night.

Since I flew way too many miles when working for Uncle Sam, and I can no longer carry my weapon, I'll stick to ground transportation. And flying was never the problem for me, the airports were the pain in the rear. No desire to go on a cruise, did a train a few times, first time was from my hometown to Fort Knox for basic; second time was from Chicago to Denver; just to see what it was like...nice trip.

Besides, now retired, where I go my "small" dogs come with me and not sure I can pass them off as service dogs. Therefore, it is now by truck (don't actually own a car anymore).

Nowadays it's via automobile since we've only taken vacations where the place was a day or two at most away by car.

There was a time when it was by plane ......... after my husband ummm boyfriend back then joined the Mile High Club. Don't ask

I love road trips! They give you freedom to explore and enjoy the journey. My tip: pack snacks, plan your route, and enjoy the ride with a killer playlist.
And if you have kids like I do ........ lots and lots of baby wipes!!! My husband and I have different taste in music so I'll bring my earbuds and just listen to my playlist or podcast the entire trip!!!
