auto update problem

Since gingerbread my weather and calendar apps don't auto sync and update unless I do it manually. The weather app is supposed to have a setting to adjust that, I can see it... But its always shaded out. I'm a little confused! I'm sure I'm missing something simple, can someone point me in the right direction?

Check under accounts and sync and see if the HTC Weather widget is listed. If not see if you can add it back in, or adjust the sync settings.
