If the Ding was capable of this software "update"

Why didn't they include this stuff in the beginning? Do you think verizon is pushing this? or HTC getting ready for motorola X release?

I give it some validity due to the fact that a rooted nexus 1 was given 720p recording a month or 2 ago. Its the same camera in the dinc as in the evo so it has to be a software thing that is limiting video quality.

Who cares? Obviously it not doing 720p recording didn't bother anyone who bought it, so this is just an extra goodie!
