Getting a replacement Incredible

Well, Ive been having some issues with my incredible for a while now with it restarting by itself and now the camera is freezing up on me. Called up Verizon and they said that they need to send me a replacement and it will be here in Friday!!! I guess I got lucky that they had some in stock. Along with all of this, Amazon charged me for my Seidio 3500mAh battery today so hopefully it will ship tomorrow and be here either Friday or Saturday. I'm kind of bumed that I need to get a replacement phone, but it wont be a long wait, and with the new battery I can use the new incredible as much as I want and not worry about a dead battery.

Chris, what number did you call? I need a replacement and they wanted me to go into the store to exchange it out. Obviously the store wont have any so I'd like to go your route. Thanks.

I dialed *611. After answering all the computers questions I got a message that said I was calling about the phone I was having a problem with and to call back on different phone. Then the computer Hung up on me. Then I got a text with a 1 800 number. I called it from my land line and got someone on the line right away. The guy I spoke to was very nice and took care of me really quickly. He told me that they would send a replacement out the next day (today) and it would be here Friday. Low and behold I got an email this morning with tracking information saying FedEx would deliver it on Friday. I don't have the 1 800 number any more but try the *611 from your phone and it should work out for you.

I didn't make out as well as you did. I was told mine will ship by 8/3 and on top of that they charged me for a new phone and will credit me back when I send the old one in. Seems kind of harsh but I guess it is what it is.

Wow, that is totally different then what I experienced. Sorry it didn't work out for you the way I did, maybe I just got a CSR that was having a really good day.

Did you have to pay for a replacement and did they tell you that you would be credited back when they got the old phone?

Nope, they never said anything about charging me for a new phone and crediting me back. As far as I know, my account hasn't been charged.

I wonder why such a disparity in how they do things. I wrote an e-mail explaining how I got treated wasn't consistant with how others in the same position were treated.

Chris and ramcharger, are you sure you two aren't getting refurbished phones? I was told that since I am within 30 days (3 days actually) that I get a brand new phone that I have to wait for, and the people who fall out of the 30 day window get refursbished units. If you guys are expecting brand new units I would seriously look into that.

I am in the same boat right now.
Phone won't stay turned off LOL.....
I never was charged or had a hold on acct for a phone...bad credit maybe?

Anyhow, if it needs to get replaced hopefully it's new because they can't manufacture these things fast enough.

Might want to make sure of that. I saw in the news that some woman in MI. though she was getting a brand new phone but it came preloaded with porn , lol (a phone someone had returned) guess there was a mix up :rolleyes:

Verizon doesn't give customer returns out....the refurbs are typically off of the production line or store demos that have been redone....

Then again Dave, it could have been Steve Jobs' original droid lol

Theres NO WAY you shouldve been charged for the phone. I would call back & ask to speak to a supervisor. Over the last few yrs anytime I had a replacement sent to me they never charge me. You have a certain amount of time (I believe 15 days possibly) to return the defective unit otherwise THEN they charge your acct. Even then if you send back the replacement they credit your acct. Thats what the 1 yr warranty covers. And yes if you are within 30 days of purchase they have to send you a brand new phone. If its older than 30 days it is absolutely gonna be a refurbished phone. Ive received plenty of these thru the yrs and honestly only had problems with maybe 3 of them. At that point i immediately called them back and they sent me out another 1 right away.

Make sure you didn't misunderstand that. I have had to return several defective phones over the years, not my DINC, and they shipped with return box and Return Authorization code. As long as you return the defective phone within the designated time period there is never a charge if it is a free warranty replacement. I did have a situation where the serial number was entered wrong by receiving and they put a full phone charge on my account. Once i provided the FedEX tracking number they took it off right away.

Thats because you are getting a brand new phone. The others are getting refurbs. Its kind of better in your case because it will be new. I received a refurb last week and it sucked. The screen was unresponsive. Ill be going on my fourth Dinc. Hope this will be the last.
