After using a Moto Droid for 10 months, I was eligible for upgrade (I only do 1 year contracts) and picked up an Incredible.

This is a fantastic device, and I really don't feel the need to root like I did with the Droid. Will that change?

Welcome to the life of a DInc.

Personally, i'm rooted. WI-FI tether and power management are my motivators which is why im running Virtuous 2.7 which is a stock sense rom without bloatware. Sense is too sexy for me to go vanilla.

P.S. GOOOOOOOOOOOO PHILLIES!!!!!

I think you will find rooting the Dinc will be well worth it, its not a must like on the Moto Droid but it still gives you more options.

I'm not paying for it now.

Are you using VZW 3G Mobile Hotspot? If so that is not included in your normal data package and have to pay extra for the service.

Can I use my existing email and web for smartphone plan to access this functionality?
No, the 3G Mobile Hotspot functionality is an additional optional feature that will have a $40 incremental cost with a 5GB data allowance with $0.05MB overage rate.
