Newbie in the Android and Hack World

Hi everyone!

So I am brand new to the Droid world, I just bought an Incredible. I am also new to the hack world (at least with phones, and with Linux). I was wondering if you guys could give me a few pointers as o what my options are and what is worth looking at as far as modding the phone.

I hate all of the stupid apps that Verizon put on the phone that I can't delete (ie: Peep, Skype, etc...). If there is a way to get rid of those I would love it. I downloaded Titanium Backup but it says it won't work because it could not obtain root privileges. If you guys could help me out I would appreciate it.

You can use Titanium Backup by doing this: unrevoked

Go there and click the picture of the DROID Incredible. Click unrevoked 3. You will also need to install these (if you are on Windows): public:windows_hboot_driver_install [RootWiki]

You will need to root your phone.. If you want I can root it for you remotely. Im not a scam lol I have rooted lots of phones in this forums.

So do I have to do the windows h-boot steps before doing the unrevoked steps?

Yes, you do.

Also with rooting, you can do things like a free wireless tether, overclock/underclock your kernel for improved performance or improved battery life, and, most importantly, use custom ROMs (modified versions of the AOSP or the Incredible's RUU).
