Tried to root phone but odin stoped responding mid install which caused a soft brink. I can get into recovery and download mode.

Using Odin3 v1.30 with a firmware I9000UGKC1 ## (2.2 os) from samfirmware.com

while trying to add firmware odin comes with this error

Alright, Not sure what exactly that firmware is... Is it possible for you to go more into detail on that. Also do you have usb debugging mode activated on your phone, drivers are installed I assume... I'm thinking it has something to do with whatever firmware that is. If all else fails I can help you get your phone back to stock DL09 (hopefully) and then you can update from there (again hopefully)

all i got is battery charging screen and computer with usb to phone symbol and modes. OS that I had before is completely gone and can't get into it so usb debugging is out of the question

STOP RIGHT THERE! Do not use that firmware if it is for the i9000. The i9000 is the international Fascinate used in Europe. You will send your phone into abyss and it will take hours to recover if you try to reboot your phone right now. Where did you get that software?

Alright I'm going to let Landshark help you from here, he's far better experienced than I, he should be able to get you on the right track.

What do you mean by a National Firmware? How long have you had the phone? Did you recently receive the over the air update from Verizon?

Well I need to go to a mothers day dinner just post a link to a working guide I guess and i'll see what I can do

If you got the update from Verizon you are on the most current firmware available from Verizon. What are you wanting to do? Are you wanting to load a custom ROM on your phone? Just let us know what it is you want to do and we can help you. And in the meantime do not try to reboot your phone. ODIN said the install failed, but if even parts of the i9000 software made it onto your phone, it will really screw things up. We will need to do some work before you will be able to reboot your phone.

In order to make sure nothing got through we will need to take you back to DL09 Eclair and repair your partitions. You will need to use ODIN:

This file goes in the PDA section of ODIN:
http://adbdev.com/danknub/CI500_VZW_DL09_ECLAIR.tar.md5

This file goes in the PIT section of ODIN:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TYQV6NQE

Look to the left of those buttons and put a check mark in re-partition. Then hit the start button and let it run it's course. After it is done you should be safe to put your battery back in and reboot the phone. Then just let your phone do the OTA updates back to ED01.

Is the battery out of the phone when you are doing this?
Are you using usb ports in the back of the computer closest to the motherboard?

USB cable is in back to mobo

battery is out but to get it into Download mode I have to have the battery in and pull it out.

Do you have the latest Samsung drivers installed or did you just plug the phone into the computer and let the drivers install that way?
