info overload// EVIL FASCINATE ROM

I have the Fascinate 2.1-1update EA28.
I rooted the phone using SuperOneClick...
I want to now change some stuff.

I have read so many things on flashing custom ROMs that my brain is smoking.
I want to go from my stock 2.1 EA28 to EvilFascination "BUT" I am feeling like
I would have to install 2.2 froyo EB01 first, then the Evil ROM...
Then I read about all these "Radio Flashes" & Kernels....

SO.... am I correct in thinking to get what I want from the phone I would
flash to the 2.2 froyo then,
flash to the evil fasc ROM then,
flash a different Radio to the phone then,
I would have to flash a different kernel to the phone?.
WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO...
a co worker is getting a new Fascinate this week. I want to have a WAY cooler Fascinate than he does.....

I have read so many post that are likely outdated along with up to date
post that I have gotten myself confused about the entire issue.

could any of you guys guide me in the right direction?

First word of help, my friend, is you might try re-posting this in the rooting, roms and hacks thread. The moderators might move it anyway.

Second, in regards to the topic,

I would flash back to DL09 then OTA to ED05.
I would explore other Roms as Evil Fascination is dated and built off the first build of Froyo. I think the stock ED05 Rom is better than it.

The important thing is to take your time, and make sure you've read and understand what your doing to your fascinate. Its exciting to change up your phone, but get to excited, and you might gork your fascinate.

That said here are some tips

Radio stands alone. It doesn't matter what ROM and Kernel you have. You can flash any Radio over any Rom/Kernel combo. Most custom ROMS do not include a RADIO. You can change the Radio anytime. The "baseband" you see in settings--about phone-- is your Radio. EA28 for you.

A Theme is where your going to get a different "look" than your co-workers. Themes are Rom Specific only. Kernel doesn't matter for the theme. Pick a theme that is made for the ROM your on.

Some ROMS include a kernel. Some do not. Just read the dev's thread for what your ROM includes. You can change the kernel independently of the ROM as long as you follow the "Voodoo/Non-Voodoo" rules.
