Hello all, hope everyone is doing good today.

I recently got Big Red's Samsung Fascinate. After coming off of the Droid Pro, I didn't think I would like it. I've been through every type of OS, different builds, old and new devices, and honestly I would have to say Samsung is my number 2 for products (RIM ofcourse being number 1 ). So today I decided I was going to root my device, that way I could get VZW's annoying bloatware off of my phone.

I followed the instructional video for the root process.

I reached the home stretch of the root process and I went ahead and launched SuperUser on my device to check and see if the root was a success. It asks me to update su binary files and ofcourse I proceed. Then all goes well until it gets here "Checking currently install path... fail!" OUCH! Then under that it reads, "Failed to find currently installed su binary, update cannot continue."

I'm not sure what's going on with that. I went to my Android files via my computer and tryed to click on the "System" folder, but it couldn't be found even though the icon was there.

I was curious if anyone knew how I could resolve this issue so that I may continue to utalize the root and remove the crumby bloatware.

Thanks so much for reading!

Not sure what instructional video you followed for rooting your phone or where that video is, but here is the rooting advice I've been giving lately and it seems to work. After you follow these instructions you can open the superuser app and should be able to update the su binary then.

Forget one click rooting or any methods like that. Follow the instructions by killahamsammich in post #2 of this thread:

His link for the CWM file is dead, so use this CWM:
