Hey everyone,

Im using a cpu monitor app and have found this process:

Android system/
checkin service/

..running between 15-30% at all times.

Does anyone know what this process is?
At one point (and this was scary) it was using 110% of my cpu.
Would love some help from someone in the know.

I was originally running a task killer while this was happening, but removed it
just to see if it was causing the problems.

The process is still running continually.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Both are core OS processes. Check-in runs periodically to check for software updates. Android System is the OS and should average less than 10%. AFAIK 110% isn't possible, so I would say there's an issue with the program you are using to view this information. Also, I do not recommend task killers (beside the built in one). Many of them aggressively kill processes that shouldn't be killed and "Android System" aggressively tries to restart them - causing serious slow downs, battery drains, and side-affects to other applications. I also recommend Quick System Info, in the Market, for viewing this type of information.
