What are those "light, Camera" things next to the front earpiece?

Just got the Fascinate and love it. Only think is I'm confused as to what those little "dots" next to the left side of the front earpiece. LED lights, camera? The rep. at my local Verizon store had no idea either... Anyone? If they are notification lights, I haven't seen them blink once.

One is a proximity sensor (proximity to your face to turn the screen off for example), the other an ambient light censor, to determine how bright/dim the display should be.

We all wish it was a notification LED.

Thanks. Was searching everywhere trying to find out what the heck they were. Was hoping it was a notification LED and that I just hadnt figured it out... oh well. Phone still rocks!
