How about that #25. That will be a nice change. I'm skeptical however as I didn't see a source for this info. Could be a "nice to have" list someone typed up.

At this juncture I could not care less about froyo or 2.2 or whatever it is being called. There are a few bells and whistles, included in the update that will placate the whiners out there. Just fix the GPS lock issue, and I am happy.

It does not however appear to address that issue directly.

There is quite a list of (fixes) that address items that I do not use (nor will ever use).

This post makes me feel even better about my Black Friday purchase plan. :)
I just want the GPS to work correctly as when the next must have LTE phone comes out the Fascinate will be the wifes phone. I want GPS to work correctly just incase she has to call 911 and they have to get a fix on her.

I'm looking forward to the email pdf fix and the headset music fix :)

This means 2.2 probably won't be here until at least the very end of december...

This list looks like it will address all of the issues I'm concerned about, that's nice.

Consider the possibility that you may never see Froyo on this phone. Can you say "When will BlackBerry OS 6 be available on a Blackberry Storm 2?"

No new OS means if you want the new OS, you have to get another phone.

They did release OS5 for the 9530 within a week of the 9550 hitting the shelves. To my knowledge, Verizon doesn't carry any OS6 phones yet so that would be why the 9550 wont see it for a bit.

As it has been stated though, I could care less about 2.2 aside from the novelty of having something new again. Just fix the GPS and I'm fine with what I have.

I just had the Gallery force close thing happen to me so that fix will be nice. AFAIC, they 'promised' froyo before the end of 2010 so it's looking more and more that in 2 years I won't be a Verizon customer.

I'm disappointed in 2.2 being pushed yet again.. but I have this phone until my upgrade is due. Considering I got this on September 10th, I'm thinking that's not going to be until March of 2012.

these fixes are great and all, but Verizon needs to keep up with timely updates for these phones. It shouldn't take an act of God to get them to release a working GPS fix and or a new OS update.

Open source to the rescue, right? Someone can just make a froyo update using the google source code and the phone specific binaries from samsung...

hah lol i had you going there for a minute didn't i?

But seriously, there will be a froyo update for this phone; they aren't going to stop selling it any time soon and the hardware specs are there. The mess over in the blackberry world with OS6 is just as much RIMs fault as it is Verizons; at least on this side of the fence we have the software/hardware vendors publishing the code it just needs rubber stamped by verizon. Consider this, there are still OS updates (unofficial but fully working) that are releasing for the Storm 1...

I think we'll get froyo eventually but don't be surprised if it's the last update we get. I have to say I don't think the Fascinate is that bad a phone. It's got some warts but all phones are that way. If you really want the latest updates it seems you should get the Nexus One since it seems to get every update first. I expect the next Nexus device will get the same treatment too.

You said it better then I ever could. I really like the Fascinate, that's why I went out of my to get one. I just wish Samsung or Verizon (whoever's holding up the updates) would get their act together and release 2.2. There's no reason for a lag behind the other Galaxy S phones.

As far as the Nexus One goes, if they released one on Verizon I, and I'm sure many others, would have bought it.

I really hope that Google undoes the whole System Apps thing so that it's easier to get ride of vendor bloat and they can't bake their crappy into the core OS. I killed of Bing entirely and the idea of having to redo that effort really sucks.
