Safe Mode

I noticed today my phone said "Safe Mode" in the bottom left hand corner?...anyone know what this is, what causes this? I did a battery pull and its gone but just curious as to what was going. Also, the phone has had no water damage or anything like that.

I had this after I installed dj05 and rooted on the first reboot

So this just happened to me on a reboot. All I had to do was reboot again and it was gone, but does anyone know why this happens or what cause it? I have never seen this before. Freaked me out for a second, is everything fine?
