there is some concern if I'll be able to upgrade a little early since I'm coming from the Incredible, I got that a few weeks after it launched so not sure how much Verizon is going to be willing to work with me on that. :/ but either way "HECK YES!" they had me at Nexus!

Hey guy, I opened up a verizon account last week just to try out the 4s, but immediately closed it cause i just couldnt handle that phone...LOL....anyway, heres my question...if i wanted to open my account again and say pick up the Droid Bionic and pre-order the Nexus. If i was within the 14 days could i return the Bionic and exchange it for the Nexus?...i have sprint right now and they would let me do that,, but im not sure if Verizon would. Any info would be great..thanks guys!!!
Yes IF the Nexus comes out in 14d. That's pretty doubtful. I think the 11/10 date is probably for a preorder. Having it in your hot little hands is unlikely to happen till mid Nov, if not even later...

I have a Droid Incredible and am eligible for upgrade in February. Verizon would of let me upgrade early to the iPhone 4S so I assume they will do the same here.

How do I go about selling my DINC? Do I have to buy the Nexus Directly from Verizon or can I get a better deal elsewhere? I have unlimited Data still so I do not want to lose this. Any help would be appreciated.
Damn, that news does not work for me either im up in March and was hoping to beg and grovel for them to let me upgrade early so i can get this phone. I wonder if i tell them im willing to bypass the loyalty discount and just let me pay the new subscriber fee then i would do that.

Oh yes. Gotta upgrade my original Droid and I was pretty upset when Big Red passed on the Galaxy SII , but now it's all good! Come on Verizon and confirm the Nov 10th release date already! Can't wait for all of that Nexus/ICS/LTE goodness !

It's going to be a long wait until February as that is when I'm due for an upgrade and use my last "new every 2" (I think I can still use it...). Regardless, this will be my next phone.

I am not too worried about the PenTile screen. It is a new generation of the technology and everyone who has actually used it says it is gorgeous. IMHO the underclocked CPU and Overclocked GPU are actually a good thing, the battery should last all day! And at some point overclocking may be an option if people want to push it. There is hardware optimization in ICS so this should make up for a lot of the fears people may have regarding *only* a 1.2ghz dual core cpu on the G nexus. The OMAP 4460 processor is a very capable CPU ( the core ARM cortex A9 is the same one used in the Exynos), it has dual channel memory for multitasking, and it is optimized for low power consumption so you get high performance without draining the battery in 4 hours. It is also supposed to be significantly better at video encoding/decoding than the other "high end" CPU's because it has the IVA 3 hardware accelerator, and with a 4.65" screen, people can realistically watch movies so it is important. Allegedly the ~2x overclocked GPU is close in performance to the dual core GPU on the iFone 4 - we'll see. I think I'll be pretty happy going from my original Droid to the G Nexus, I'm not worried at all...

I did a quick search on this thread and didn't see anybody worried about the pentile matrix on the screen. It's pretty disappointing for me.

I was going to switch from my SGSII, but I'm not so sure now. ICS is the thing I like, but the screen, and the CPU / GPU aren't that good on paper (even worse with Tegra III so close to appear).

So the answer is "maybe" becasue for me SW is 80% of the phone, but the price for the HW has to be fair, they can't sell it as a masterpiece like it was the SGSII when it came out. I don't thing is any better than the SGSII HW-wise, which is not very old, but had to be beaten by new hot devices like this

I'll be upgrading my wife to this from her iPhone 3GS (and switching her to Verizon obviously). I recently got my Thunderbolt so I can't upgrade yet, but at least I'll be able to play with her phone.

Hello, I am new here. I am probably 90% going to get the Galaxy Nexus; Verizon is notorious for putting on it's bloatware, I don't see why the Rezound or the Razr would be any different. I also don't think you're going to have to worry about pre-ordering; Verizon is actually going to put more of their marketing muscle behind the Razr because they use the Droid branding.

Philip, yes you keep unlimited data as long as you stay on a smartphone. Never ever change to a simple phone even as a back up. Verizon also has a trade in program but you can actually just get more money selling it to someone else who needs a phone.

Ditto. I also want to see what the battery life is like. My phone goes running, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, field work, and so on, very often using the gps for long periods of time. In the car, in the office, on a bus, at home ... the larger screen would be great, but for most of those locations I have other tech/computing options. Phones are getting smarter but not necessarily more mobile. I love what I'm seeing with ICS and won't buy a non-Nexus android phone. I just don't need a mini-tablet. We'll see.

Max of 32GB with no micro sd slot is a no-no for me. The 1750mah battery makes me nervous as well.
And it's not even clear how available the 32GB model will be, e.g. Clove's only selling the 16GB one.
I have a 32GB sd card in my current phone--I can't see downgrading to something with less total storage.
It's not the card slot itself that's the issue really, but just the total space available. If the Galaxy Nexus it had a 64GB option like the iPhone 4S, then it might be more of a tough choice, but as things stand now I'm sticking with my original plan and getting a Galaxy Note.
Samsung's getting my money in any case.

I've already decided - I bought a Droid 3 earlier this week. I exchanged a Bionic for it after having it for 12 days.

A few reasons: The 4G network is too problematic (the Bionic was randomly dropping 3G connections in places where I know 3G is great). I thought that the Bionic was too big, and the Nexus is even worse.

I'm happy to wait to ICS to make it to the Droid 3 - a phone with a 3G network I can depend on, decent battery life, and a phone that's small enough that I can sit down with the phone in my front pants pocket. Hopefully in 20 months 4G will be mature enough and there will be great handsets with reasonably sized displays.

If the Nexus has 32GB of memory then I'm picking it up on the first day. Otherwise, I'll go for the HTC Rezound or Moto Razr

"Heck Yes" ****but only if I get the 32gb version... since I'm still on a BB-Storm post orig droid death.

Then next year, as soon as a phone launches with a gdamn SD card slot and similar specs I'm jumping to that....

If no 32gb version can be aquired, I'm either holding on to my hated BB storm, or getting the Razor, pending battery life reviews.
Dude , do you really still have the storm??? i had the storm and the storm 2 , four androids since then. i can tell you, you are suffering big time

You Betcha! Moving from the HTC Thunderbolt. I am very happy with my Thunderbolt since the Gingerbread update, but I want a clean Google Phone. I want the most current OS updates, not requiring the manufacture to update their skins or VZW not allowing an update. ICS is the bonus. The Galaxy Nexus, while not an extreme phone, specs wise, very pleased with all the features as a whole. Done Deal.
