I just came across a 4000 mah extended battery. My question is will this damage the phone in any way?

Probably not, but the Samsung battery holds the NFC antenna. You may or may not have that with a third party battery.

Thanks, I don't use nfc nor have it enabled so that's not a deal breaker for me

I think that's for the GSM version of the GN. I have both the Hyperion and Trexcell 3800ma batteries for the Verizon GN, about $20 on Amazon. I've had the Trexcell for almost a year, I just got the Hyperion. They both have NFC and can last a full day (two days with light use and a WiFI connection).
