It is supposedly brighter, but I'd say it's more like 1.2x brighter. I never go over about 50% anyway because it hurts my eyes, so it doesn't matter to me.

I have the opposite problem. The screen is way too dim in direct sunlight and when watching movies with dark scenes on Netflix. Email or Web indoors, the screen brightness is fine

It is brighter but I think the higher resolution is what also makes it seem brighter because it almost makes the other screens look dull not that these are in any way.

I am very happy with my Note2. There was an issue losing my contacts. It was weird and the replacement has been fine. Knock on wood. This has been the best device. Very pleased
