    Note 4 or edge?

Most likely the Note 4. But since the screen size stayed the same as the Note 3 (5.7"), need to get my hands on a working store model first to see if the more premium metal design and newer software features are really worth paying full retail (to keep unlimited data). Otherwise had they gone with the usual .2" bump to make it 5.9", it'd be a done deal already. In the end if it turns out a go, I'm still keeping my Note 2.

That's about where I'm at unless there is something really compelling about the Note 4 when I have a chance to put my hands on one. If not I'm perfectly content to keep rockin the Note 2, still runs like a champ!

It would have to be a whole bunch of compelling for me to spend about $700 on a note 4 or whatever the full price is.

I'm nearly 100% certain it'll be the Note4. I'll check out the Edge though.

If the Note 4 gets root access I'll get it.

I think it will be the note edge, but the new moto x and even the lumia 1520 look really nice.

Edge if it's not too pricey. Either that or the Note 4.

Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 Android phone on a keyboard that waaayyy too small (or my thumbs are waaayyy too big).

I wish someone would make a device that has a 6" screen on it.

Maybe the Note 5 when that comes out.

If screen brightness is an issue for you like it is me then I suggest you skip the three and go for the 4 which has 750 nits brightness.

I'm actually considering the nexus for my next phone as long as I can use it on Verizon. I don't use my s pen though I somehow still managed to lose it lol. Ordered a new one just so it still has value when I sell or trade in

Well, after seeing at Note 4 at Best Buy, I'm fully convinced it IS a worthy and major update to the Note 2 (didn't feel that way about the Note 3), so I went ahead and pre-ordered it (via Verizon's website).

I thought the Note 4's display puts the Note 2's to shame. It was much brighter even at auto-brightness and much crisper with a lot more detail all around. I'm not very good at describing it, but I was just in awe at how much better it looked. It's just a phenomenal looking screen! I also thought the metal frame and backing felt much more premium than the Note 2's plastic build. Just putting them side by side, one in each hand, my Note 2 just looked and felt dated with a lesser build quality.

I wasn't expecting a whole lot performance wise from a Note 4 demo model, but I thought it was just as smooth if not smoother than my fully tweaked out Note 2. I would expect it will be even smoother when I have a chance to tweak and customize the Note 4 to my liking. I also came away feeling the Note 4's S-Pen is vastly better than the Note 2's. It has a softer tip (replaceable too) and is much more responsive; just felt more refined and smoother in overall operation.

Of course, in the end it's all subjective stuff. But for me, I just couldn't justify passing up the Note 4 and sticking with an increasingly aging two year old phone (despite it still performing well).

Probably won't be available on Verizon. The last Nexus smartphone on Verizon was the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in 2011/2012. Verizon is very controlling of what devices they will allow on their network, as well as over OS updates to those devices. Thus with the Galaxy Nexus, Google and Verizon butted heads over OS updates and they subsequently had a falling out over it.

Didn't they recently pass a law that said you can bring any phone to any carrier?

I think you're referring to this: U.S. House clears legislation to make unlocking cellphones legal | Android Central

Not sure if that requires Verizon to allow any phone on their network though. There is also the technology part whether the Nexus 6 would support CDMA that Verizon still uses. From the FCC's FAQ here: Mobile Phone and Device Unlocking FAQs | FCC.gov

Q: Will My Unlocked Mobile Device Work on All Networks?
No. Network technology (GSM, LTE, CDMA, etc.) varies between different regions globally and across the United States. Device technology varies to ensure it works with compatible networks. In other words, your device technology must be compatible with network technology to enable access and functionality. Because the technologies differ, your device will not work across all networks.

Also devices are optimized to work with service providers' networks for which they're sold. Although your mobile device may work on a compatible network, certain features on your unlocked phone may not work optimally, and some features may not work at all.

What kind of resale value does the note 2 have? I lost the s pen but I just ordered a new one from amazon last nite. Other than that it's in almost perfect condition. No scratches on screen. Been in Otterbox for the last year

That doesn't mean diddly squat to me. I wouldn't have an iPhone if it was half the price of a note. I don't care about playing video games so I don't care about the performance difference and I much prefer having Android and I much prefer having a 750 nits screen which is what the note has. Owning an Android and owning a note series phone is a win for me. I don't like iPhones, I can't stand Mac OS or iOS or the Apple company. You are in the wrong forum if you want to extol the virtues of iPhone
