Putting hand under bottom of phone makes signal weaker

I was trying it out and noticed that the phone signal strength dropped 9db when i put my hand under the bottom side of the phone. Guess that makes sense because the lte and cdma antennas are at the bottom of the phone, but I didn't really think that it would affect it that much. Voice also dropped a bar.

I also notice a big difference, even when just holding the phone at the bottom in such a way that my hand or fingers cover the area where the LTE antenna is housed. My signal drops by 6 dbm (or even loses 4G and switches over to 3G) and comparative speed tests are 2-3x different in the same location.

If you obscure the antenna, your signal drops. It will happen with any device if you cover the antenna. Some worse than others depending on material and design of course.

Agree; the S3 is much more noticeable than either of my previous phones (Rezound and Droid X)
