My old GS2 had a built in samsung app that would close all running items in the background... I'm not seeing it here, is there one I am missing? Otherwise I have 10 things open in the background.

Hold down the home key, will show you previous pages visited. You can close them if you want. I find no reason to close them as I am having wonderful battery life, and with that 2GB of Ram, things move just as swiftly!

I don't think that closes them, just removes them from that list. At least that's what it does on stock Android 4.x

It's baked in to the OS. Press the multi task button (press and hold home button for about 2 seconds) and start swiping stuff side to side to close.

I use Task Panel Xtra to kill off all running apps. I don't use it in auto mode though, just when I want to close everything down manually.
